Opioids Tagamet (cimetidine) as a potentiator

I began using tagamet just today as a potentiator. I use percocet and OCs orally when I can get them and in between I've been using kratom.
So what I'm wondering now is how often I should be dosing on the tagamet to get the max benefit from it?
I tried it once about 1/2 hr before taking 20mg of OC and it seemed to work pretty well.
So will it be nessecary to dose on the tagamet each time before I dose on something or does the tagamet stay in my system as a potentiator long enough that I could take a couple doses of PKs between tagamet doses.
I'd say that I'm dosing about every 4-5 hrs presently.

The problem with potentiators is that very soon, you will inevitably gain tolerance to any positive effects that you were getting from the potentiators, and then if you don't take the potentiators, your normal dose of oxycodone will feel less effective, which is counter productive if you ask me.

I mean, I would much rather deal with opioid tolerance instead of thinking "oh I have to take X drug Y minutes before I take Z". And sooner than you think, your taking 3-4 different drugs to obtain the same effects you used to get from just one.
 
That a good point, Tricomb. I was first prescribed tagamet in the 80's because I've had stomach troubles since I was little. Went onto Prilosec, Nexium and eventually Protonix (pantoprazole) It's gone on for years and years. I've found the more I used these acid reflux medicines, the more I needed them. I don't have insurance to get the meds anymore since I'm not working. I take over the counter very sparingly. Your stomach can get furthur wrecked from continued use of these meds, especially taking more than the recommended dosage.

If you're taking opioids, you can take a dose of tagamet and it will increase the potency of the opioid. For each time you dose an opioid it's nessecary to take a tagamet if there is to be any effect.

Thanks for the additional insight Tricomb - Yeah there's nothing about being a drug user that comes without a price. I've been learning the art of moderation lately, with the assistance of certain crutches. I may never quit entirely, but lately my monthly cash output has been significantly reduced thanks to the useful information I've picked up since joining the BL community.

I'm a member on a number of various other discussion forums. It seems almost ironic that the most intelligent, polite and articulate group I've joined so far is the BL community... Drug Addicts... Like me.
Makes ya wonder, doesn't it?

Yeah, I mean I know people who very elaborately and methodically dose potentiators at specific intervals, like for example, taking tagamet 1 hour before, drinking grapefruit juice 45 minutes before, taking diphenhydramine and/or hydroxyzine 30 minutes before, more tagamet and more GFJ 15 minutes before, benzodiazepines, and finally, their opioid of choice, then more tagamet, some muscle relaxers, etc etc etc.

It's a very slippery slope, and this type of thing tends to snowball so be careful.
 
I consider myself lucky that I don't have any heroin connection, nor am I going to look for one. There have been times when I'd have given in and scored some if I had a source.
My pills come intermittently and generally I spend as much time going clean as I do getting high.
It's sort of a built in saftey net for me. I don't socialize with other users. The people I hang around with drink and smoke pot and I only know of 2 sources. so generally I have been spending a lot of time coping with 'being without'. This keeps me from getting too strung out, and keeps my tolerance relatively low.
The few times I went to other sources, I got a raw deal. So I just keep things the way they are, and I'm stoked to have kratom to ease the WDs in between times.
