System Shock 2 and how videogames are become too fucking easy

I recently torrented System Shock 2. It's a hybrid rpg fps of the same mold of Bioshock, it was made in the late 90's so system requirments shouldn't be a problem.

the graphics suck ass but what do you expect and the game is so good you'll forget about them.

but the real thing I wanted ot talk about was how hard it is. like yahtzee says in alot of his reviews shooters have gotten TOO FUCKING EASY. Bioshock was a fucking breeze, you just respawned with the game still running and you just hacked away until a tough enemy was dead.

Since it's a fps/rpg hybrid it has an inventory screen, but unlike oblivion and fallout 3 when you bring up the inventory the game doesn't freeze. so when you want to repair, use an item etcetc you have to be quick about it or you will get your ass kicked by an enemy. you can respawn but firts you have to activated a chamber (spawn point) in thatr area and then it costs nanites (currency) if you're out of nanites you have to reload.

also when you want to repair an item or hack a camera or turret it costs nanites too

so yeah, the game is hard. but once you get good at it you actually get a sense of accomplishment as you can go from the inventory screen or hack a turret with snake like reflexes.

Ammo is scarce as well and you have to level up in order to use deadlier weapons.

what I'm saying is, is that why can't they make games liek this anymore? why does every current shooter have a fucking get to cover and you'll wounds will macigally heal making saving your game almost unesacary.

Killzone 2 and call of duty 4 are good games. only int he multiplayer though. the single player is just too fucking easy and wears thin fast.

and on the RPG front. Oblivion and Fallout 3 are also great games. but sometimes they got way too easy.

Are videogame companies dumbing down games to appeal to a wider audience? you're fucking right they are. I think the era of games that aren't just point click PWNED! is over. at least with shooters.

at least the multiplayer aspects are still good.

sorry if this sounds like a disjointed and much less eloquent yahtzee rant. I just needed ot get this off my chest.

You got taste man. SS2 is my favorite game ever and one of the few I've played that borders on art.

If you like it also try to find BioForge. Among others you get to beat people up with a severed arm :)

Shooters fucking suck these days. The only shooter that isn't shit IMO is the Resistance franchise on the PS3. Unlike Halo and other franchises that cater to the casuals and bros, Resistance is challenging.

The Glory of The Many... it has so many miracles to share, so much knowledge to give.

I just found this thread. See my post in the intoduce yourself forum, I was asked my favorite game of all time and of course answered ss2. You sir are my new best friend :)

I tell all my gaming buddies that ss2 is by far one of the BEST games I've ever played, and ive played a LOT of games.

.

Yup yup.. I blow through FPS so fast nowadays. No matter what difficulty its on. Like shit I just beat Gears of War in no time. I barely used the covermode and it was basically just run-n-gun easy

I loved ss2... never quite finished it tho.... might be worth a look tonight =D

I was just thinking this beating Deus Ex on EASY the other day. You need a precise plan of action NOT to die in the later levels. What happened to that?

^ I never got into Deus Ex- it was too hard from the get go....

I guess video game publishers are worried that people won't be dedicated enough to put in the hours to play whereas I think the oposite is true.

I think the problem is that publishers are trying to cater to the casual gamers. Everybody saw the success that the Wii had with shitty games and graphics and saw an opportunity.

Have you played deus ex rico? I really liked the rpg/shooter crossover , usually im more into bioware stuff , look into mass effect same idea more recent havent played it yet though
