Synthwave Thread

There was a vaporwave thread but no synthwave thread so... maybe it's time?

First off, to clarify, Synth/Retrowave is not a Vaporwave subgenre. The two are relatively easy to tell apart. Basically, if it sounds like 80s America, it's probably Synthwave and goes here. If it sounds more like 80s Japan, it's probably Vaporwave.

Synthwave's fits old VHS movies. It's kinda like an aesthetic thing, the ''Neon Culture'', you can't listen but it fits with the image, with what you are watching. In my opinion, synthwave's worse than dub-step, it fits the ''Childish POP EDM'' side.

yeah that's the point of it, to sound like 80s pop hits. IIRC there's actually a VHSpop that's a Vaporwave subgenre. Vaporwave relies more on screwed up samples though and Synthwave is original music in the spirit of 80s American pop

What a sad little synthwave thread. Underappreciated genre for sure.

First a little slow buildup to get you in the mood


Followed by something a bit more high energy


Love the music video for this one. I don't think they made it themselves but it's well edited and fits the music well


Not necessarily Perturbator's best but I credit this song with introducing to synthwave as a whole
