I'm in the middle of switching from sertraline to fluoxetine, and dumbarse me didn't write down the schedule so I can't remember when I'm supposed to start the fluox. What I can remember is the doc said do 2 weeks of 1 sert pill every other day, and then 2 weeks of 1 sert pill every third day, then stop, but I can't remember what point in the taper I was supposed to start the fluoxetine. It was either at the start of the third week or the start of the fourth week I am supposed to start it, but which one I'm not sure.

As a sidenote, is there much risk if I start the fluoxetine sooner than reccomended, because frankly I don't want waste christmas on depression and SSRI initial side effects if at all possible?

A practice with any decent doctor will be able to tell you the schedule again if you've forgotten it. Just make sure to write it down this time.

People get into risky territory whenever they don't take medication as prescribed. They also are more likely to do it if they've already done it before. You can see where this is going...

Doctors aren't machines. They'll take your concerns into account, all you have to do is voice them!

Thanks for the advice, hopefully the local practice will have an appointment free before I'm due to go back across the country again. If not I'll just be starting the fluoxetine at the later of the two options, since that's the one least likely to go wrong.

Come to think of it, why the hell aren't I just calling 111? That'd be the easy solution...

Yeah just call and the nurse should even be able to tell you.
It may even be on the bottles if they were new prescriptions?
