My Dr. is switching my back meds from 7.5 Hydro to 5mg Percodan. I know Percs are Oxy and Vicodin is hydro.

My question is will I feel a noticeable difference? Are the 'highs' relatively the same? Do Percs last longer?

V's don't last long at all so I'm constantly takiing them. That's why he's switching. Lot of APAP every day with the Vikes.

Just wondering which is more preferable recreational?

Thanks!!

The percs will be a little more euphoric, but not much more.

I'd ask for 7.5mg Percocets if u were on 7.5mg of Vic

as far as lasting, they will prob last about the same time tho

i wouldnt expect much diff

maybe next time, ask him for the 10 or 15mg OC's then it'll last longer

You won't notice a difference in terms of duration of effects. Because neither of them are extended release, effects both last between 4-6 hours (according to the doc/label). However, noticeable effects last only about 3 hours.

Percs are stronger, as you (should) know so you need less to feel it. By doing a basic search you should learn more about these two drugs and the difference in a typical experience. Many people find that oxycodone based drugs are more of a speedy opiate experience. However there also exists a small population who prefer hydrocodone.

Your dr has you on the wrong medication for long term treatment. That APAP is horrible for you even if its only perc 5/325s. My Dr put me on roxicodone 15s every 5 hours.. but even with that I notice when the amount of pain med in my system tapers down.. Maybe you could ask for something like that or OxyContin which would be every 12 hours... That way you would have a continual med in your system.. those percs should be for breakthrough pain.
