Bupe Subutex solution left in syringe to long, now causing cotton fever. Ideas?

So I had divided 8mg sub pills into a few syringes to make gram-level dosing easier... and then started using again for while.

Rededicated to detoxing, I gathered up my needles of bupe, and went off to visit family at their house in the country for two weeks. By now, after having been left in the syringe a few months, the bups solution has turned feral, and has given me a bad-ass case of cotton fever every time I've injected it.

On the other hand, the bupe still works its anti-withdrawal and anti-craving magic, one the spastic shivering stops. I could try another ROA -- plugging, most likely -- but I don't have enough to last me, or run a reasonable taper, having to use 2-3 as much for the same therapeutic level as I would via injection.

So: Is there any way to to clean/purify the bupe solution to kill off whatever's grown in it that's started giving me the fever?

I was thinking iodine's a possibility because, as a natural disinfectant, it's to this day used to make water safer to drink, AND it's found in relatively high qualities in some of the intravenous dyes they use for various medical scanning and tracking procedures?

I also know that low, by higher-than-you'd think amounts of hydrogen peroxide can be inject without serious side effects, as it's long been used as a bogus "alternative" cancer treatment.

And if I were going to attempt an experiment involving one of these --- given that a 25cc inject gave me a full-on, teeth-cracking-fever-of-104 level case, what size test dose should I use that's as small as possible to avoid another full-blown bout of cotton-fever, but large enough to suggest proof-of-concept if I remain symptom free?

I understand your need, quite the shitty situation, but this is a terrible idea. I can't speak for the safety of IV'ing any iodine or h2o2, but I sure as hell wouldn't try it. It also can't be good for you to keep getting yourself sick to get well.

On a more usable note, maybe you could briefly boil/microwave the solution? I have no idea how much bupe would break down or how much boiling would be needed to kill the bacteria, but it's probably a better idea than shooting iodine. Reconsider plugging (your best bet), it's still pretty effective.

As I mentioned in the first point, in current medical practice as a contrast dye, iodine is administered intravenously in hundred of times greater concentrations that I'd be doing. The safety of injecting iodine is not an issue. It's whether the iodine would do anything to whatever in the bupe solution is causing the cotton fever.

Not really. Most important is the fact that the bacteria aren't making you sick: it's the toxins they produce. So even if you kill the bacteria, the toxins are still around and they will make you sick.

Yes, it is... elemental iodine is not the same as iodine bound to a contrast agent. That is like saying chlorine gas and chloride in table salt are the same and have the same effects...

Tincture of iodine is an effective disinfectant because it's an oxidising halogen and is usually sold as an ethyl alcohol solution. That doesn't mean it's safe to inject it. Elemental iodine (or e.g. potassium triiodide in Lugol's sol'n) is not the same as iodine bound to organic compounds (as in contrast agents) or iodide as a salt (as in iodine supplements for injection). Iodine inhtese latter 2 cases isn't bacteriocidal anyway.

Hydrogen peroxide is an oxidising agent, like elemental iodine, and hence is a disinfectant (same mechanism as bleach). Inejcting H2O2 is an excellent way to destroy large amounts of tissue - it is never suitable to IV H2O2.

If you mix buprenorphine with oxidising agents (H2O2 especially) you can destroy it. Throw the shit out man, it's not worth it.
