Hi, I just need to figure out what to do. I'm chronically ill, have MANY chronic Pain Diagnosies, including 3 of top 10 worst and all I could get prescribed was Suboxone. I have a new Doc for my MANY other Meds and I told Her how Much pain I'm in and told Her I was on Suboxone but She Basically offered to write Me a Script for Painkillers!! Finally!! Anyway, im not sure if She actually realised I was Prescribed Sub? but I need to get another script because this isnt cutting it.. and Im taking way too many antinflammatories. Have an appt tomoz but not sure if I should Tell Her I'm on Sub? I don't want to and have been written Pana forte before (but I pinged at another Chemist and had to explain to Pharma everything coz He rang My Sub Doc and He said it wasnt ok, but He knew I needed it at the time for injury and not to do it again)was gonna ask for Oxy, and go to different Chemist- it's just I know I'm going to Ping? Maybe not if I get Pana forte again but I'm so scared of getting cut off My only pain relief Suboxone. What should I do? I don't want Doc to get in trouble either... Please let Me know if anyone knows the consequences in South Australia.Thanx :)

Why were you put on suboxone, they normally only put you on that if you've had problems with opioids in the past.

Really, I know suboxone is not optimal for pain but it is stronger than pannadeie forte/codeine.

There is no point taking oxy while you are on suboxone anyway, it won't get over the bup, unless you're on a low dose of suboxone.

It is hard for me to say exactly what you should do, I am in qld, however I do know how it works up here and like I mentioned, you generally are only put on sub if you have had problems with using/abusing opioids in the past, if this is why you were put on it then you likely don't have much option.

Nah I've never been flagged. My Doc went and had a look, it's just the DDU Contract that fucked Me. I have hyper mobile Elhers Danlos, Fibromyalgia,Spinal Stenosis, Sciatica arthritis Bursitis Bone Spurs and more... Because "I was too Young" and I was on Targin before getting diagnosed with the rest and got tricked into signing the Contract Grrr... Believing That I could get Prescribed again down the track after 2 Pain Specialist DDU attempts never got put back on and Couldn't find a good Doctor, I gave in to Suboxone finally When I found My Doc whos knowledgeable about HEDs because I couldn't deal with the pain and has other HEDs on it for Pain. And Yeah, I know it blocks it, but I can still feel My "Side Oxys" a bit- Bout the same as before I started Suboxone which is fkall but def notice the difference. If I wasn't on Sub and If I upped it heaps I would-but because I can't afford to up same dose I've had for 5 years, I just stay on this. Got Pana anyway and didn't remind Her about Sub.Just to stretch out my Oxys. I've researched about My Conditions and People on Sub still get Prescribed short term Opiates for Acute pain. You still feel a bit but obviously Nothing Like the first Yrs on Oxy/ Targin

@Harri8, unfortunately once you have that mark next to your name you're pretty much screwed as far as I know, I have the same mark, I've been on methadone since 2000.

That is perhaps something you could consider, getting on a decent dose of methadone would certainly help chronic pain more than suboxone, of course, going on methadone can be more restrictive than sub as far as having to go to the chemist and all that comes along with methadone.

However, now they've listed methadone on the pbs it's very cheap so cost wouldn't be an issue, so you just have to think about how often you would have to go to the chemist.

Just something to think about, maybe another option.

I'm not from Australia. I feel like it can't be that radically different than what I'm used to though, having lived in the United States. Your best bet is to be honest with all of your doctors man. It's a gamble, sure, but it's the best hand to play. If you get caught bullshitting, they might fuck you over just out of spite. Doctors are not above that sort of behavior. I advise you to be honest man. If you're really struggling with all of these severe issues, they should be able to give you proper analgesics.

@Harri8, I just read your post again and saw that you said you had not been flagged, sorry I thought you said that you had been.

I am not sure what a ddu contract is.

In every country where I’ve tried to get medication I’ve had to fill out a form which asked what other medications I was taking at the time. This is important information for the doctor and I suspect that if you are not truthful about it, it will not look good. Also from working in pharmacies, I can tell you that there is a lot of gossip, especially when it comes to which doctors prescribed narcotics. So I would advise honesty. You may just have to try a lot of different doctors, or even consider self-medicating with stuff you buy on the street or online, if you can’t find a doctor who will prescribe what you need. It really sucks, but that’s just how it is at this point in many places.
