Bupe Suboxone+benzos/alcohol???

A number of deaths have occurred when dependent people have injected buprenorphine, usually together with benzodiazepines. While you are being treated with SUBOXONE or SUBUTEX, do not use benzodiazepines, tranquilizers, or sedatives unless they have been prescribed by your doctor. Do not drink alcohol while taking SUBOXONE or SUBUTEX.

I've been taking 2mg alprazolam every night for almost 2 years and I've also been taking 0.5mg clonazepam every day for around the last 6 months. Will my tolerance to these medications allow me to be able to take them while on Suboxone? The Xanax I need to take every night or I won't be able to sleep, but the Klonopin I can easily take a break from if necessary (and of course, if it really is that dangerous, I will stop taking the Xanax, too.) How about alcohol?

You should be fine, some doctors wouldn't knowingly give you suboxone while on benzos.

If you've taken them daily for a while, it's likely that you have such a tolerance to the benzos that you will be fine.

Alcohol is horrible with suboxone, it's not pleasurable at all. I would avoid alcohol, as it's worse than heroin for the body and brain.

I would stick with the xanax and buprenorphine, that's a nice combo right there. Just keep in mind that you don't want to exceed more than 1mg or 2mg of xanax a day while on buprenorphine, the synergism between the two is intense and you will not know how messed up you're going to get if you exceed the amount of xanax you normally take.

^ Thanks very much, dude. I will most likely not be mixing the Xanax and the bupe. The Xanax I will continue to take at night for sleep (I haven't taken it recreationally since I got my prescription) and I guess the bupe I will take in the morning. Sound good? I'm not trying to get high off the bupe, I'm using it "as prescribed."

Also, since I've got Suboxone and not Subutex, I need to know about how long it is after opiates last use that I should take it. I've read a good 12 hours...that right?

I am very unfamiliar with suboxone, or how it works, so my answer could be incorrect.

but after I googled it, a few places said one dose should last 8-12 hours.

I never had a problem with drinking while prescribed benzos and bupe. I'm not saying that it's safe, but I never really wanted to drink that much until I quit taking bupe. When I was on bupe, I would just have a few drinks and relax. It's a different story now though most of the time.

Actually, Suboxone and Subutex both have to be taken while in withdrawal. Subutex has the potential for causing precipitated WD's as well.

Depending on the opiate you have last taken, it will be a different time since it was taken. It varies for the individual too. In short, you need to be in withdrawal before you take buprenorphine. If you think you're in WD but aren't sure, wait longer, because you will know it when you are withdrawing and hurt the most - that is when it is optimal to take buprenorphine.

It can be dangerous, alcohol and benzodiazapines are dangerous by themselves WITHOUT opiates in the mix. However, I can speak that minor benzodiazapine and alcohol use with such a suboxone dose has been survived.

Not a safe mix, especially considering what happens with only alcohol and tranquilizers.

I hate drinking on suboxone, if I have literally any more than 2 drinks at once I get all dizzy and sick feeling, it kind of sucks because even though I'm not a big drinker there are times I want to get fucked up like at a concert or party but can't, so I usually end up just doing a bunch of opiates and breaking thru the sub dose if Im gonna be at a social event cause I can't drink but I don't like any other drugs really.
