We all know Brad is dead and gone, but what is your opinion of the new lead guitarist / singer?
Do you think they should have let Sublime's career die with Brad?
I personally like Rome, he is a great vocalist (although he is still miles behind brad) and he can make decent music. I have faith that they can continue their legacy.
here is a link to their new song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBxn5FK7Cdg&feature=related

Which brings me to my favorite band Blind Melon, I personally dreaded the idea of trying to replace Shannon Hoon, but I have to admit Travis Warren kind of grew on me and I really felt attached to his music as well. Here is a link to one of his best songs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llweiqGE1lc
But rumor has it that the band is trying to replace Travis Warren with someone more capable of filling Shannon Hoon's massive shoes.

I really wish the best for both of these bands, and their former members will be missed.

As someone who didn't listen to much of the old Blind Melon except for Soup and then tuned back in when the new stuff was released, I was really surprised For My Friends didn't make a bigger splash. I think its underrated and a lot of the resistance is from old fans predictably hesitant to give the first guy to replace the dead guy a fair shake.

i think sublime with rome is like a cheesed out version of american idol

sure they sounded good
but no soul brotha

I dont have a problem with sublime moving on without Brad but I dont think they should do certain songs out of respect. Those songs being Pool Shark, 5446, and STP. maybe a couple others that really bear Brads soul. I know there gonna do What I got and Santeria and thats cool they need to make a living but theres a respectful way to do it.

I aint got no interest in this shit. I aint the typical fan of sublime i know, but i always had mad love for them becuz of the dope connection...as an addict , along of the songs meant alot to me and i got a deeper meaning out of alot of their music than i think the majority of the average "fans" who just liked the most popular songs, etc....

Without bradley they are just another reggae-flavored, frat-rock, surfer-style weed-smoker college party band IMO. him and his lyrics was wat set them apart for me. alot of people hate on sublime sayin its just some shallow, weak shit...Music for the "bro-hippies" , you know, the guys who just like to do beer bongs and smoke weed and have pool parties and rock hemp necklaces with their abercrombie shirts. theres alot of people who claim to love sublime so much and be like "brooo, sublime is the SHIIIT, awesome band yo, date rape was like the best song evar!"

and even as somebody who loves the music i got to admit that the stereotype is very true, and theres alot of people who really dont get shit-all out of the music and think its just "cool' to listen to and good party soundtrack music for a night at the tiki bar. 8(

But for me bradleys singing is the thing that brought it to a deeper level for me. All my favorite, all-time best songs, are ones that youll never find on the playlists of the surface level fans who just like it cuz reggae is cool man, and like, they talk about smokin weed in the song, awesome! you kno wat im sayin? They can play shit like date rape, santeria, doin' time, wat i got, and all that shit, and im sure that plenty of the kind of folks i described will be diggin that shit and goin to shows....But i sure wont be. Without bradley all the soul is gone , that emotion that i connected with that really made me feel somethin, that shit aint there.

My prediction is the "new" sublime (BTW i cant even believe that they are actually callin themselvs sublime) will just be a shitty played out college bar band makin money off kids who wanna get drunk with cheap cups of beer and smoke joints with some reggae-style party music playin in the background. you might as well just listen to Pepper and their sublime-copy-rock for all that this 'reincarnation' will be worth.

Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed todday?

I agree with Lacey K, I don't think they should of used the name "Sublime" even though Bud & Eric are in this 'new'

sublime with Rome i think it would of been better to at least name your band something else... Brad was Sublime,

Sublime died with Brad.... thats all I gotta say.

Have you ever tried to be a professional musician?

It is not easy....

EVEN with that... They were Sublime before Bradley came around.....

look it up

Yeah but brad wrote the songs correct me if im wrong but I dont think Bud and Eric had a heroin addiction? Brad was Sublime the same way Kurt Cobain was Nirvana sure the other members where important to producing that Sublime sound but its just never gonna be the same. I never liked Lynyrd Skynerd for the same reason but at least they had the decency to bring in a family member to fill Ronny Vanzants role. ( I know I spelled alot of that wrong I am seeing doubles right now)

I feel like sublime with rome is just a cover band and not a continuation of sublime. :( I still think they sound great with rome, but a cover band none the less.

onetwo I aint on the wrong side of the bed just cuz I said some shit you dont agree with.

Sublime aint shit without bradley nowell, straight up. I dont care who officially started the band first or none of that shit.

his singing and lyrics, was the only thing that keeps them from being a lame frat rock party band just like i said before. without him, I aint got no interest. Take away either one of them mutha fuckas in the band , and nothing would sound different. it would still sound like sublime, it wouldnt make a difference. take him out, and you aint got sublime, you got a cover band like fayder said.

It aint got nothing to do with "how hard it is to be a musician" or none of that -- I aint even sure where you goin with that becuz it aint relevant to anything that me, or anybody else in here is sayin.

When a lead singer is dead, that band is dead as far as I'm concerned. There is no reason to get another singer that sounds similar or EXACTLY like them and continue the band. That makes them no different than a cover band.

na i think ur gettin it twisted....I dont like them BECUZ he was a addict. that dont make a band good. im just sayin that him bein who he was , all of it, and the meaning in his lyrics and the soul in his voice brought them up a level , in my eyes. not his addiction, but HIM in general was wat set them apart.
