Stupid radio ads (Pot smoking might turn you into a 'dickhead')

Stupid radio ads

Has anyone heard the ads being played on Sydney radio over the past week or so, one in particular disturbs me, theres a bunch of people at a party and one guy repeats how "stoned" he is about 10 times and pisses off everyone there. The worst part was the end where they cut to a girl saying:
Pot - it mightn't kill you, but it could turn you into a dickhead

Is this what the government has resorted to to try and stop people using recreational drugs, I see this as a sign of despair, it was really pathetic.
 
I wonder if the ingenious advertisers considered the fact the most logical conclusion is that it's his behaviour that makes him a dickhead, not the fact he's stoned. The type of person who walks around repeating "so stoned man... so stoned! Can't believe it, I'm so stoned!" is 99.9% likely to be classed as a dickhead in all walks of life too...

teh ad caught me by surprise the first time. It has a a guy with a woggy accent (like the one from the inner-west of sydney) going on in a very funny way. then the chick at the end actually made me realise it was an ad. I laughed my head off in the car. fucken funny.

I dont think the ad will do much tp persuade ppl not to choof. most ppl smoke pot for teh first time cos all their peers are experimenting with weed. i reckon the radio ad could actually incite someone to want to try pot to see what's so funny. my 2 cents...but yea, dodgey move from the government me agrees.

If the government are going to do anti-drug ads, they should make a better effort. I bet the idea for this ad came up in a Cabinet meeting after a few too many bongs shared...
 
That is possibly one of the stupidier things I've ever heard. I suppose for the next one they'll have a girl walking around a doof going "Hi! I'm so happy! Have you got any ecstacy pills for sale?" and the voice at the end will say, "Ecstacy... it won't kill you, but it might turn you into an annoying, whiny, Kandy kid. Phat pants kill. This ad has been authorised by the State Government"

At least the current ads in Victoria on ecstacy focus on the comedowns and how it affects your mind mid-week which is something friends and I really can relate to; what goes up... etc.

Yeah, I dont think the tecniques have changed since day one. I have a few of those old "dope fiend" short movies they used to play in the cinemas right back when film was a new thing. Some of the stuff they said about pot is amazing. Obviously all the science and research we have done in the past 50 years has taught government's nothing about drugs.
 
if they just legalised it they wouldn't have to resort to this kind of crap.

also, that sounds just as funny as the "party started an hour ago" ads. but they're at least little more realistic i guess.

some adds are just good to spark discussion and laugh about. you would not believe how many times me and my friends have brought up that.. 'uh.. nah i think i'll come later' line.
but i agree t_e_ss that add is quite realistic. yeh, fuck, i love that add.

um but yeh anyway, i feel a little sorry for the people creating the stupid adds. it's like they're trying to be cool and "in" with stuff... well thats the feeling i get ..... just not working

oh and hoptis, i'm still smiling at the thought =D heh heh heh
 
Exactly what is so bad about getting to a party an hour late? Hehehe. Careful everyone, marijuana may reduce your capacity for anal-retentiveness.

I personally haven't heard it, but I can't see what's wrong with it.

I think the government should be applauded for not trying to frighten people into not using drugs.

Perhaps you are all just unwilling to admit that yes, when you're on drugs, to someone whose not on drugs, odds on you ARE a dickhead.

Take a video camera to a party one night, you'll never be as embarrassed as when you watch what you get up to, and what you think is cool when you're high.

My advice, get the fuck over it, realise you're a wanker and have fun with it, that's what I do :)
 
yeah i think its a step in the right direction, instead of 'take xxx drug and you will die!!!!!!!!!!!!'

its tackling with a real issue, that abuse of drugs can have an adverse effect on ur social life, which it can. so im happy with it.
 
lol I think the ad sounds great!

...but then I quit pot 3 years ago hehe.

I think the best thing to show would be some bonghead who is so stoned that he can't be bothered picking up the lighter to have another bong.
"Watch out kids, pot can even make you too lazy to smoke more pot!"

too true, i have on various occasions muttered these somewhat eternal words 'im soo stoned!' to willing conspiritors ...
 
Pot smokers = 'dickheads'

Has anyone heard the recent radio advertisements branding marijuana smokers as ‘dickheads’ and ‘losers’?

I don’t normally take these ads personally, but was outraged that these ads were clearly targeted at teenage boys who use the drug. This group has enough to deal with and doesn’t need insults slung at them every day on nova969.

These ads do less to stop marijuana use than the laws themselves.
