It's been days since your post but my advice for sore throats is only drinking water... Reduce fat/oil intake as this can make pain worse. This means no milk or greasy food. This just to reduce pain.
Also reduce food intake for a few days while you recover, as digestion uses a lot of resources to do. This might speed things.
Antibiotics probably a good idea.
Additional help.. possibly a tea made with honey. Manuka honey is known to be a really good antibiotic, but can be quite expensive.
Slippery Elm bark if you have access is also good for sore throats.
But it has been awhile since I've had strep.
