Was recently participating in a thread on another forum about stimulant psychosis and some of the people were describing their experiences with it as positive and mind-expanding, comparable to a psychedelic trip or something. Anyways I typed up a long reply and it's my own experience with speed and lack of sleep and hallucinations.

Well my hampster has been through two different types of stimulant psychosis actually. The first one was a few years ago and was the paranoid delusional type one. Not fun. I wouldn't wish that terrible mind-state on my worst enemies, especially when it lasts weeks or months.

The second one happened last summer after doing speed, not sleeping for a couple nights, and smoking a bit of weed. Let me tell you what happened. My hampster was hanging out with one of his friends late at night and met the weed guy to buy a bit. He smoked a fat joint with the dealer and his friend and walking on the way back is when things started getting trippy. I mean, on the way to meet him my hampster was experiencing minor visual disturbances such as shadows and stuff out of the corner of his eyes, but then it got intense.

My hampster would see people. He would see a woman walking or standing with her dog. Some kids. But the closer he got to them the more they looked like what they really were - trees. But that's not what my hampster is remembering that night for. Because when he got back to his neighbourhood and was hanging outside a local school late at night with his friend, burning a joint, a bit after that he saw some people in the field that looked rather strange. Two middle-aged types were dancing around inappropriately and the man (could barely see them but made out his actions) was sort of dry-thrust-humping his female companion at one point and dry-humping the air, and they seemed to be coming closer and possibly saying something to him. It really freaked him out so he got up with his friend and insisted they take off. He walked to the other side of the school then decided to make it a circle for some reason to go back where he came from. For whatever reason it was, he can't remember, it was the right decision because when he got back he learned that the people weren't really there. They were just a couple of bike-path signs.

When he got up close to them they looked like a normal couple of signs. But the farther he backed away with his eyes focused in their direction, the more they turned back into those scary weird people, and came back to life, doing more strange and inappropriate things. Then in a matter of a second the dude was hanging from a noose from the tree swinging back and forth. Then after that he went back to normal (still weird motions though) and somehow my hampster figured out he might be able to control this hallucination himself. He thought about getting their attention, and he doesn't remember if he said "hey!" or thought "hey!" but after he did that the weird dude either had responsive body language or an auditory reply. My hampster doesn't have the greatest memory of that point but that was when he realized he could possibly control the hallucinations and maybe have fun with them. Maybe fun isn't the right word though because my hampster was transfixed and basically stood there looking at the sign-people for what could have been 15 or 20 minutes when his friend was trying to get him to leave the whole time.. he couldn't figure out what was happening but it was very cool and fascinating, unlike anything he's ever experienced in his life before. At first he was scared but when he realized that it was all in his brain, that's when it became cool. He also noticed crazy lights in the field and a bunch of other moving things far off that looked like maybe people or animals but weirded him out. One more thing happened.

After my hampster and his buddy talked about these hallucinations that apparently both of them were experiencing, (I think my hampster in a higher degree because he did a bunch of more speed than his friend did that weekend, same sleep schedule though) they came to the realization that perhaps the weed they had smoked/bought from the dealer had some PCP in it because my hampster felt pretty high just from the weed, the speed had long worn off, and the way he felt was slightly similar to that of Ketamine or DXM, two dissociatives that he quite enjoys (obv k more lol). They thought of this because he was talking about having PCP the day before but when they asked him if he gave them a free sample the next day he said he hadn't. They made it clear that they would have appreciated it if he had because both my hampster and his friend were pretty tripped out in an unexpectedly positive way, but still no. While sitting on the playground trying to figure out why they were having these cool visual disturbances and this kind of dreamy almost euphoric in a way state, his friend mentioned that the lack of sleep might have had something to do with it, possibly in combination with the speed. At that point my hampster didn't know too much about sleep deprivation or the trippy things that come with it with or without speed because he hadn't stayed up like that before, but his friend explained it to him and that became a very real possibility.

While talking on the playground, my hampster noticed a man in the school staring at him and his friend and talking on a cellphone. He looked pretty angry. Then my hampster moved his head less than an inch to the left and he watched the man turn his back, get twice as fat, and his bottom half was a garbage can. My hampster continued to move his head back and forth watching the fat garbage can turn back into a skinny janitor on the phone, and back again, and back again a few times.

That was the other cool part of the night. My hampsters buddy had to literally force him to leave the schoolground because of how drawn towards the weird hallucinations he was. Since that night, my hampster has wanted to re-create the effects that he experienced that night very badly. His friend suggested repeating the same general amounts of speed and lack of sleep, and I'm beginning to think he's right. My hampster had stayed up longer than that since that night but not in combination with a bunch of speed... until the past two days. "My hampster" started getting visual distortions an hour or two ago and they are pretty cool. Not as intense as before in the dark school yard and field, but that's understandable since the blinds are open. It's more visually changing/warping in the darker spots of the room/open doors to dark rooms/stairway upstairs.

My hampster is very interested in exploring this strange and fascinating state of mind. I am not sure if this is stimulant psychosis or not but this thread and my hampsters current visuals reminded me of the possibility that my hampsters friend's suggestion was correct.

The ingredients appear to be the same. Chronic or bigger amounts of amphetamines/stimulants in combination with a certain amount of no sleep. It's not anywhere as crazy as it was last summer but my hampster is thinking about staying up to make it more intense. Last time he was completely in control and it definitely helped that his friend was there too. His friend is here with him today actually so that works out. All he remembers is what happened and how mesmerized he was by the weird visual occurrences, and the fact that he may have been able to influence them. There were a couple other things that I think confirmed a minor level of control or influence over some of the hallucinations. Like I said earlier though my hampster has a bit of a bad memory right now lol.

I'd like to get to the bottom of this lol. Would be cool if there was something scientific to explain this but my hampster is quite spiritual actually and it would be even cooler if there was something "next level" going on, if you know what I mean. He was going to sleep a little while ago but then started getting visuals and also found this thread, and now his interest is re-sparked and is staying up. If we can figure something out here on the forum that would be excellent but if not, in the very least I am thinking my hampster will be able to get me to report back for him if he ends up going deeper into this almost magical happening.

Oh and one more thing, what the OP said about opening doors reminded me of one mans theory about certain psychedelics such as DMT removing filters from our senses to see the world as it truly is, or see stuff from other dimensions or something. Would be cool if this supposed amphetamine psychosis or spirit quest lack of sleep thing was related.

Let me know what you guys make of it. Thanks!

Can you get rid of all that 'my hamster' bullshit please? That sort of thing is not allowed here and offers you no protection anyway. Just change it all to 'me' / 'I' etc.

That's partly why I didn't reply with a longer post, I wanted to read his whole cross-forum-re-post-post but the my hamster/my goldfish went SWIMing shit makes my brain bleed. And what do I think? I think it sounds like amphetamine psychosis.

Well cry me a river lol. If you can't deal with the word hampster instead of I then I'd be surprised if you could hold down a job for too long lol.

And after doing a bunch of reading it turns out you are also wrong about it being amphetamine psychosis. If I was psychotic, I would think these things were real lol.

I was talking to both of you. I don't have time for rules - too busy being awesome. And I know it isn't but I am trying to live my life in a unique way so while other mothafuckas is rollin up with hamsters n shitz I be rockin that hampster tip son.

Hey yo, it's THAT guy again...8) :D Seems like others' opinions are not being taken into consideration so i'm not gonna speculate on "why" but in a way it's quite obvious and part of the answer is in your question.

Yep. You came here asking a question you knew the answer to, got angry when we pointed out that you didn't read the rules/FAQ for this forum and when I said you have amphetamine psychosis, just because you don't think the things you're seeing aren't real doesn't mean its not psychosis, or sleep deprivation. Oh wait, I already said that too. 8)

save it for your blogs, man. or check out trip reports forum and their posting format.

otherwise this is getting the closure.

boing. sorry, you lose 5 internets.
