I recently got the new e1 and e2 test kits. I tested a pill with e1 and got a weaker than normal color change, but although weak it did turn purple. When I did the test with e2 it turned purple/black initially but after about 30 seconds it turned a murky brown almost black. Has anyone ever seen such a reaction? The pill tested was a green smiley, the ones with the "V" shaped mouth.

sounds kinda normal. i've had much the same result when testing these smileys. E2 seems to always give a much quicker result to MDxx than a marquis. how much of the E2 turns brown?

The e2 test just seems to develop a brown tinge after the initial color change to a dark purple/black. Is it possible that their is some amount of K in there and that is messing up the color change. This would explain the e1 test changing to puple/black only, as the K would not be detected.

possibly, altho unlikely. the k reactions i have seen are more orange than brown. it's still early days with the e2 and we are all still getting used to reading the results...

What color do you get if you mix purple and orange? Maybe the K reaction would have been orange had it not been polluted by the MDMA's reaction?

Sounds like a pill with something more than just MDMA in it. The weak response to E1 is significant to me, are you saying 'weak' in colour or weak in 'tone'? If it contains MDMA, it should have a strong colour starting within a few seconds.
With E2, the brown could be a result of something such as K. Usually K is a more bright orangeish colour, but certainly dulls to an orange/brown over 30s time.
I guess this shows the utility of E2! Oh for a TLC plate!
Have you already road-tested this pill? I feel it's a bit risky given that it's showing signs of being more than just MDMA.
Can you update us on where you are at with this?
