Strange Fluvoxamine Experience

I understand SSRI's work in a similar way to psychedelic drugs by interacting with the serotonin system, and can even create cross tolerance with one another.

Anyway, early this year I was prescribed an SSRI called Fluvoxamine. I was only on it short term but the experience was strange. When I started the drug I experienced changes in my visual perception and my emotional state. Visuals consisted of colors appearing deeper and fuzzy with objects appearing to move slightly away from me. The most noticeable distortion of an object moving was the tops of barren trees. The tops seemed grow upwards and recede back into the sky. I did not experience any closed eye visuals. Emotionally, I felt warm, peaceful, and dead - that was my feelings of the world while on Fluvoxamine. I've included comparison pictures of my experience below.

Me with no drugs:

Me on Fluvoxamine (first few doses) - the tree tops appeared a little fuzzy and seemed to slightly grow and recede backwards. Colors such as blue and orange seemed more contrasting and vibrant:

I'm considering taking morning glory seeds in the future. I understand that these visuals are probably very mild compared to an LSA/LSD trip, but are they anything in the ballpark close to a psychedelic experience? If anyone wants to get artistic and photoshop the original barren tree pic and put what one might experience with *open eyes* on a mild LSD or LSA trip - that would be very helpful.

This is kind of outside the scope of this forum.

Fluvoxamine should not cause visual distortions. There's also no way anyone can tell what you would see on an LSD or LSAs trip (they're completely different BTW). Everyone's experience is different. There's only one way for you to find out what it's like. ;)

If you're getting visual distortions from fluvoxamine you might want to talk to your doctor about that.

See the Healthy Living forum for talk about SSRI's such as fluvoxamine.

Closed. :)
