Anybody had any success with the market products like Nicorette or anything to stop smoking ?? Only used to maybe have one or two a day. Recent weeks have been a bit on the stressful side.

So overdoing the smoking etc and I’m getting seriously pissed off with myself. Something I could never do in the morning was smoke…turned my stomach. Now I’m sitting with a coffee and cig at 6am every morning and smoking 10-12 a day.

Love my fitness but it’s seriously fucking up my cardio side of things.
Anybody with any recommendations ??

Shambles pretty much quit instantly with e-cigs. A few backsliders but at the most a week. He's done well. Mibbe give that a go. Never thought I'd see him off cigs.

Stop smoking aids never helped me. I'd forget I even quit and be back on the cigs.

Then, around a year and a half ago, I wanted to quit as too much whiskey and too many cigs meant I gave myself an esophageal tear and retched a lot of blood a few times.

So It was on to boiled simple food, omeprazole, and water for a few days and haven't had a cig since. Went from 30+ to 0. Wanted to kill a few people for a month or so, then it was okay. Carried a bottle of water and drank from it every time I had a craving. Kept smoking weed. All good.

My point is that you really have to want to stop. Otherwise you are just pissing against the breeze.

An e-cig stopped me, without me even wanting to stop. I bought it because I'd never seen one before and I could 'smoke' inside. They absolutely are a smoking cessation aid, despite not being allowed to be sold as such. Hurry up, though, because they're being regulated next year (so, either banned or taxed to fuck). I have the odd fag, when I'm fucked, and that's it. I smoke joints, when I'm socialising, but generally use a pipe for weed. E-cigs are so cheap, even for a half-decent one. I'm sure we can recommend something, if you tell us your budget. Even £15 will get you something worth using.

I quit 7 months ago when I bought my first ecig. Was a pack a day guy for 25 years. If your having trouble, vaping is the way to go. I had a smoke a few days ago and it tasted like shit. I'll never go back.

I started to feel the benefits of quitting about 2 weeks after and now I feel 10 years younger.

Good luck, it's a bugger habit to quit.

Yeah, the taste and smell of fags make me feel a bit sick now, unless I'm high, then I generally want that 'real' nicotine high. I cut down on fags immediately, and was practically off them, after a month (from what I can remember). The decent e-cig flavours are really pleasant, which helps even more and makes fags seem awful. I've occasionally used nicotine-free liquid and not even noticed the difference. It proves how psychological smoking can be.

Definitely switch to ecigs. They are so much easier to stop than tobacco, you just need to feel ready to stop.

Just last week I was in such a rush to get ready in time for work that I forgot to take my e-cig, but I got through the whole working day without any difficulty what-so-ever, no cravings, no foul moods, no lack of concentration, nothing.

Somehow, once you switch to e-cigs they are far less physically addictive. They are still psychologically addictive though, you just have to want to stop, and once you do it's so easy. Far easier than even giving up coffee for example, which is also very easy in the 'grand scheme of things'. It's not difficult to switch to e-cigs, and if you get a decent e-cig they can be just as, if not more enjoyable than a tobacco cigarette imo, they just taste far cleaner and fresher, and you are getting very efficient hits of pure nicotine delivered straight to your brain with each inhalation. Just like tobacco, but without the tar and thousands of toxic & carciogenic additives.

I'm going to have to take an extended spell off the weed shortly, which I know is going to be freaking difficult to say the least as I tend to smoke at least one spliff, with tobacco, daily. I'm thinking of getting myself an e-cig just to get past any nicotine cravings; I've had a lend of one and it's a lovely, clean hit. And it does the whole satisfy-the-nipple-fixation thing, just without the carbon monoxide .....

I guess I can work down over time to a "weaker" grade of e-liquid with less nicotine in it, yes?

Got a e cig thing today....absolutely disgusting the amount I smoked over the weekend.
Literally knocked myself sick with them but just couldn't stop picking up another and lighting it.

It's like a form of self-harm...you know your doing damage but you get some strange/relief kick out of it.
Anyway right good draw/kick out that e cig so that'll keep me on the straight and narrow.

Very true, and maybe some people smoke because they consciously or unconsciously want to die prematurely. However, this isn't a psychology thread, so I'll stop this tangent now. :)

Julie: Yeah, of course. Once you're definitely off fags, and on an e-cig, you can drop the strength of the liquid you're using, until you're on a liquid that doesn't have any nicotine. However, as I said, I'm very surprised at how psychological smoking is. If someone swapped my liquid to zero nicotine stuff, I wouldn't notice, I'd just blame it on a comedown, or whatever. I honestly believe that the taste of my e-cig is now more addictive than the nicotine it contains. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I'll get high and smoke loads of fags, because sometimes I enjoy it. If I compare it to my e-cig, though, it's not the same. I always enjoy a decent flavour. I never think 'wish I'd not had that, it was horrible', like I did when I was smoking fags. Seriously, buy one, and see for yourself.

Nah my life is just so void of fun activities / job prospects smoking like a chimney keeps the boredom down.

Yeah it's sad.

Ah well it's the last habit to kick! :)

6 days without cigarettes, without the help of any market products.

I still get cravings and dream about smoking, however the cravings are quite bearable.
Does anybody know for how long will they last approximately? I used to smoke 7-8 cigarettes a day

The Authorities must really hate the thought of nicotine-free vaping solutions with nice flavours. Vaping is supposed to be a means to an end {giving up smoking} and not an end in its own right, especially not something that people actually find enjoyable. I mean, they pretty much openly admit that they are banning menthol fags because they don't taste nasty enough .....

The differences between vaporisation and combustion will be deliberately elided over, to make it look {to the hard-of-thinking, but we have to assume that's everybody nowadays -- it's not like schools have been teaching kids anything since I did the last O-levels} as though vaping might be as dangerous as smoking.

If people start vaping nicotine-free blends just because they enjoy the taste, and not as part of an effort to give up smoking, you can bet the Puritans in charge won't be happy about that. Look how much money has been poured into trying to establish a link between mobile phones and ill health .....

Allen Carr's Easyway works for a lot of people. I bought a copy just over a year ago after being recommended by a couple of friends who used it to quit.

I'm very glad i did because i quit without too much trouble and have had no urge to smoke since, and that was after smoking 40+ a day for over 20 years, and 15 years of failed quitting attempts using other methods.

It's sold 9 million+ copies for good reason!
