I quit drinking 6 weeks ago, but I still feel pretty much the same. I was drinking fairly heavily, about 50 to 70 alcohol units a week, if a unit is a glass of wine.
I had a hangover and a shit day coincide and I just stopped. I am not really tempted to start again because I lost my huge beer belly, however I am unmiotivated and lack concentration where before I would get things done in spurts, now I seem to be frozen and unable to lift my game at all. I thought giving up booze was some kind of panacea, has anybody else had this happen.

I think you need to give it a little more time. Also, what have you done to help yourself feel better, besides quit drinking? Are there other things in which you are over-indulging? Drinking alcohol moderately can actually be healthy for you. Besides that, what kinds of food are you eating? Do you enjoy what you do generally on a daily basis? How is your quality of life? IMO you need to examine all these aspects of life, not just one.

diet is better, but it could be improved. I bought 5g of hash 3 months ago but gave most away smoked a little weed the last week and i mean a little, nothing else.

When i quit drinking it took a hell of a long time to feel anywhere near normal. Close to a year but id been drinking heavily for years and was a full blown alcoholic to the point where i got the DT's if i didnt drink.

Make sure you get lot's of b vitamines as alcohol depletes them and try and exercise and eat right overall. That helps alot actually.

When you stop drinking you can probably increase the rate you liver heals at using milk thistle / silymarin, the active ingredient in milk thistle. Liver function may have nothing to do with why you are not feeling great, but it could be worth looking into. Long term alcohol abuse can cause brain, liver, and many other types of organ damage unfortunately, staying off it is probably your best bet - nice job so far!

Have you tried silymarin? Its a hepatonic that might help your liver getting more up to speed.

Or you could try some nootropic if you think its your brain thats the issue (ie all the alcohol has "dulled" your brain, such as some piracetam.

Good luck, hope you feel improved. Glad to hear you lost the beer belly :), that gives me hope.

You quit drinking 6 weeks ago, but how long have you been drinking, in all?? I'm pretty sure itd was longer than 6 weeks. It's going take your brain time to adjust man. You could be also experienceing PAWS which sucks.

I've been sober 5 months and I'll still get those shit feelings outta nowhere. Just takes time. Stick with it man

I have been drinking for over 25 years, I am Irish so my drinking would not be seen as overly excessive more like acceptably excessive. I have not been completely dry the last six weeks I had 4 beers with my parents on mother's day. But tonight will be my first ever completely dry St Patrick's eve.

I have just recently come to understand what caused in part my craving for beer, (wine & spirits I love the taste, but consumed in moderation, beer was my god) my craving for beer was a craving for sugar. My wife noticed the litres upon litres of orange juice I started to drink each week compared to a glass or two here and there before. I had no idea how much OJ I was putting away, I have also started on soft drinks.

I think it takes months for your brain chemistry to revert back to normal plus you have to relearn all those behaviors give it six months to a year and then see how you feel.
