Stop forcing reddit links to convert to an embedded web page.

Stop forcing reddit links to convert to an embedded web page.
I'm not sure what you're saying exactly, but I don't think we can control how your browser opens links.

Reddit pages get automatically embedded in the forums, even if you use the URL code. Ironically, it seems like that feature is disabled in this forum (I just tried to demonstrate it). A person should have the option to disable it in his post if he wants (or just stop converting the URL operators to MEDIA code).

Happy to look into this with our tech person. Would be good if you could provide a screenshot or something to demonstrate the problem better? Thanks

if somebody is going to spend a few minutes looking at the reddit link/embed issue, could they also add x.com to the list of supported media urls?

right now we have to edit any x.com links to twitter.com.

x links have worked fine for me for quite a while
Just copy and paste without any issues

so weird. last time i tried it suggested x.com was unsupported but i just tried and it is, indeed, working fine.

thanks mal.

Depending on the privacy settings of the person whose tweet you're attempting to share, I still run into some issues sometimes. But in that case, there will still be a box displayed with an error message.

See the second quote in this post?

This is how it looked before I edited the reddit links (i.e. once you have at least a single character after the /comments/ section,* it triggers the software to make a huge banner out of the link; this is, specifically, in the display area of the link, not the URL area).

Just quickly scroll through both of them.

This preposterous feature needs to be rid of immediately.

Make it optional, i.e., [

] Feature linked posts by embedding them on the page.

Also Reply to this post and look at the resulting quote in BB code mode and look at the first characters and the last characters: that should be standard. Gives the text more space. That would be a custom modifcation...

*No reddit URLs have a single character after the /comments/, so if you arbitrarily post such a URL, it will still make a banner, but it will say “Not supported post”.

It can't be done without turning it off for all users, and it can't be made it optional because it's a third party's software that does not have that kind of fine-grained control.
