When I was 5 years old, I was put on methylphenidate for ADHD. A few weeks later, I began developing a condition known as Vitaligo which is a mutation involving depigmentation of affected areas of skin... My parents denied that the drug was the cause, but after about 6 months, I stopped taking the drug and the depigmented area stopped growing. Thus, I am convinced that methylphenidate was the cause of this condition.
I recreationally use amphetamines to this date, and it is hard to tell if they have any effect on this spot, some friends claim to see it enlarged recentley. When I was taking methylphenidate, it was a daily dosage, and any amphetamines I take now are few and far between (Main amp is MDMA, and I space it weeks in between).
I am not too concerned about the spreading of the depigmented area, but I am a bit curious as to what these stimulants are doing to my genetic code to cause a strange thing like skin depigmentation to occur... Has anyone here been educated in a way that they understand what is actually happening?
Also, please share any experiences that realte to this. I wasn't really confident that methylphenidate was the cause of this until I met another person with similar genetic make-up; ironically, maybe (mid-eastern and 'unknown mixed white races' mixed), who had also been prescribed methylphenidate during the same period of life as me and had the exact same problem...
