Something i noticed recently that i cant really reconcile to the literature on the topic.

Usually I will end a meth binge with Seroquel and sleep. But sometimes I might have been drinking due to requiring to sooth some hardcore VasoConstriction and calm myself down.

A few times i have passed out and slept on or near the comedown (i didnt even know it was possible to simply drink yourself to sleep like this after 4 days awake!).

What happened each time however was that other family in the house apparently came across me in my sleep (due to the noise) flapping around in my bed while asleep and making weird grunting gurgling noises and jerking violently constantly in terms of muscle jerks and flapping in the arms and legs, full on jerks and not just muscle twitches...

This happened each and every time i missed my Seroquel dose as if this is normal. Once time i was forced to stay up one a comedown after 3 days and went into this state awake and experienced the sensation of consciously sitting there and struggling to control my arms and legs which would feel like they wanted to move and wave around all over the place. This was combined with a sensation of feeling an increased sensation of aggression and constant involuntary verbal grunts and noises.

Now if i was sleeping I would feel none of this and in my perspective I would be having an awesome deep sleep while this was going on.

Anyways, i cant seem to explain these full on involuntary muscle movements that seem like the arms want to wave themselves around all the time and not merely jerk or twitch as might seem more normal compared.

Can anybody explain this oddity to me? Especially the violent spasms during sleep sounds fucked up to say the least. I almost had an ambulance called on me the last time.

it is called - Drug Related Nocturnal Dyskinesias

Dyskineias are choreic movements seen in selected circumstances, such as drug related side effect or toxicity. They are less intense and more frequent at night than day. When present at night they generally occour during transitions from sleep to wakefulness and in light NREM sleep. The most frequent dyskinesia is related to levodopa (LD) use in patients with Parkinson's Disease. Violent kicking and flailing limb movements in sleep are also reported with high intake of LD and tend to be associated with other behaviours like yelling and screaming or grunting. Dopaminergic drugs can produce involuntary movements in sleep.

Tricyclics, lithium, caffiene, stimulants and anticonvulsants are all likely causes of this issue.
