Which one would you prefer, i know stiffleg dead lift focuses on your lower back but it also focuses on your leg biceps as well, but many in the gym stick with the standard deadlift.

It all depends on your schedule. Sure, conventional deadlifts work more muscles, but they are tricky to work into a schedule without overtraining.

ATM, I do SLDL's with focus on hamstrings

You can always try sumo deadlifts if your looking for a change- wide legs, closer grip so your hands are between your legs. Helps stabalise your back.

Deadlifts don't seem to overtrain me as much as squats- I struggle to do 2 loads of squats a week whereas I can do 2 loads of DL no probs.

If you want to grow, kill your legs ONCE a week max. Unless you are doing just a few sets of quads, you are certainly overtraining.

I like to have both deadlifts and SLDL's or RDL's (Romanian Deadlifts) in my workout schedule, depending on my split.

Sometimes I have a "backside day" which is back, glutes, hams, and calves. I start this with deadlifts, finish off my back, come back to the deadlift platform and do either romanians, which focus a bit more on the glutes or SLDLs which focus more on the hammies, then finish my hammies and go on to calves.

Otherwise I may keep them both in the schedule, but then I will do my SLDL's on the day before the DL's because the one thing I noticed is that the spinal erectors REALLY DO need their reest.
