Who's tried St Johns Wort to bring back the magic of MDMA?

Success and failure stories welcome..

I myself have been taking St Johns Wort every day for a few weeks now.. I havn't done MDMA in a long time.. (Have done mephedrone (4-mmc) though)..

I don't plan on using MDMA in the near future, as i have stopped all drugs for a while.. But when i do, i'll be sure to let you know how it went xD

There was a thread on here a while ago about a guy that did this and had good results....he posted his regimine and everything from start to finish.

I'll see if I can dig it up.

But you really want to avoid taking MDMA and SJW together...it can be dangerous.

hey i'm wondering how long after stopping SJW you can take another serotonergic drug?

Saint John's Wort is believed to affect serotonin levels. Depending on how it works, it may blunt the effects of MDMA...or amplify them. Although I'm not aware of any reports of serious interactions between MDMA and SJW, since both affect serotonin I would avoid mixing the two.

i've wanted to try this but it's not worth fucking up my birth control and getting pregnant, so i just wait between rolls and preload with other stuff.

It up-regulates serotonin receptors.. that's a good thing, btw xP

RGB said it nicely with this post:

"To hopefully clarify some of this for the rest of you, releasing a small amount of a 5-HT agonist (including serotonin) into the brain can actually increase the number of postsynaptic serotonin receptors. This is due to the inhibitory action of 5-HT1a, a serotonin receptor subtype that inhibits the release of serotonin when it's stimulated. Less serotonin release ultimately leads to a proliferation of postsynaptic receptors.

The story is a bit more complicated when you start talking about SSRIs. When you first start an SSRI course, the elevated level of serotonin causes a dip in net serotonin release due to the previously mentioned 5-HT1a mediated autoinhibition. This causes the "lag" that people experience with SSRIs -- it usually takes about a month for the 5-HT1a receptors to downregulate sufficiently. Once the 5-HT1a receptors have downregulated, serotonin then rises, causing the desired therapeutic antidepressant effect. Long-term use of SSRIs leads to downregulation of all the serotonin receptor subtypes, which occasionally lead to atypical depression symptoms for long-term SSRI users.

Theoretically, a short course of St. John's Wort should cause a rise in serotonin receptor count, since it raises serotonin levels and thus stimulates 5-HT1a. The low-dose "primer" MDMA dose is probably used for the same purpose.

I'm not a doctor, and I do apologize for not having sources (this is collected from various things I've read), but let me know if that helps. If you disagree, please feel free to contradict me. "
