Just a little heads up to everyone to be wary. On Friday night at sublime I had just gone to the bathroom and made use of the facilities and returned to chat with my friends, No more than two minutes later two of the Home security guys were leading me outside. I was told that I had been observed on CCTV in the bathroom and that if I came clean they wouldn't turn me over to the cops - who were outside on one of their routine checks. The home guys were actually pretty good about it and let me return in etc. The moral of the story is be careful - you're being watched.
I was glad they let me back in as I got to witness an absolute stormer of a set from Jumping Jack and then Craig Obey.

By "making use of the facilities" I assume you don't mean going to the toilet...

My question is though: were you in a cubical? Because if you were then I'd be pretty pissed off if I were you...

I thought there were privacy laws about cameras in cubicals/changing rooms.
If they've got cameras watching the cubicals, then i think they'd be in more trouble than what you are.

As bubbles says, im sure there are privacy laws regarding bathroom stalls e.t.c.
I never look up towards the ceiling when i make use of the toilet. Have heard stories like this before where people got caught "eating" in the toilet by a camera in the ceiling....
Sorry to hear that, bet next time youll be nervous as hell and wondering where the next camera is

I'm fairly sure there would have to be some provision in CCTV guidelines for places where people can "expect to have reasonable privacy" even when in public places, such as bathrooms. Whether this translates into tresspass or violation of privacy by civil law in the case of cameras in bathrooms I have no idea, I'm sure some of our legal team (

) can comment.
However, I wonder if the club security people could get around the above by policing their bathrooms by the following method: Have cameras overlooking the bathroom entrance (or parts of the bathroom such as the basins), and microphones within the bathroom. I know of one club in Melbourne that was said to be "wired" thoughout the club, even in the bathrooms, but since I never saw the microphones myself that remains as hearsay.

I have herd alot of stories about people getting caught in the Bathrooms at HOME. I know they have 25 Cameras in the whole club, that is linked up to the secuirty room.
Whenever i want to Dump or Rail chems i always do it on the mail dancefloor, or in the open so its not obvious. They look in the most un obvious places.. like the bathroom n all.

Yes, in the cubicle - and the guy even said "CCTV saw you... in the cubicle".
I was shocked, to say the least. It didn't greatly bother me though, has made me a little less stupid about how I go about things - more the money than anything!:-p

YES. its a sad fact but I have myself been 'approached' and harrassed following my drug activities in the cubicles in the downstairs toilets at HOME, one friday at SUBlime.
There are actually over thirty cameras through out the club(32 or 37? notr sure which, and while I might know most of the bouncers I do NOT know the guys responible for the DRUG surveillance well enough to have a relative level of immunity yet -DAMMIT!

.
There are four cubicles in there and the only ones that its safe to do ANYTHING in (apart from fire nuclear weapons) are the ones closest to the urinal.
The two that you have to walk past, closest to the walkway, right opposite the huge sink with the taps, are *always* observed by the secutriy at HOME and EVERYONE knows it happens. These two in particular as the floor is raised at the sink level and a passing security guard only has to raise his head and lean a little to the left and he can look over directly into the cubicle you are in. Its not always the cameras that are watching, ive seen it done many times.
Illegal? maybe... but can anything be done about it? No.
My advice?: If you take drugs in the club then do it in the middle of the VOODOO floor, no one cares there.
If you are like myself and prefer to be a little more confined and organised with your substance administration, (particulary when youve got a mixed bag of 10 or so bikkies and you want to know exactly what you're doing) then use the toilets upstairs in the Cargo Room... where everyone queues to fill up water bottles..
*These have GOT to take the cake and eat it whole as the safest toilets in the CITY to undertake drug activities.*
Just dont spend too much time in there as this is the only thing that would give them reason to suspect you of illegal behaviour.
Prob solved. -but yes the Loo's downstairs at HOME might be famous, and we all know as well as the owners/promoters/staff that HOME exists for pill poppers, but they use these toilets to catch the dickheads who are not wary enough to do their business elsewhere. I got caught once and I deserved it. My bad. "Wont happen again officer."

just to emphasize this is for the MALE tolets at the base of the stairs on the bottom level.
The chick situation is not nearly as bad. None of my female friends have eve had anytrouble popping, they have popped infront of the bouncers and we al know theres an un-written completely different rule book for chicks-drugs in the clubbing world...
I know one of my chick friends who wold sooner cry "RAPE" than let a bouncer escort her out of club for popping a pill..
moral of the story:
GUYS! GET FROCKED UP, CHUCK ON THAT WONDER-PUSH-UP C-cup and get your ass in the girls toilets to do your drug shit at SUBlime from now on..
ha ha ha ha!!!

You cant do anything about it? Ok, take a bag of say casting sugar, act spaced out. Pretend to rail it or something and leave the bag there or something. Wait for the bouncers get you with 'dealing/having a big amount' etc..
If its illegal to do something, its illegal. (especially in this case, its hugely easy to bust their ass).
Just need someone with balls (scuse the pun girls) to sue them for invasion of privacy.

Clever idea yes... and im not saying it woldnt piss me off enough to want to bring em down as well, but the point i was making is: the people who run these clubs are not to be fucked with. they are not going to investigate the area they own and police it the way YOU or any other meber of the public sees fit... and what good is it sueing them for Invasion of Privacy when your up agiainst a possesion/trafficking charge to boot.. I did not say it was impossible to be done but its too much trouble and effort,
HENCE:
-heed the adivce above, go elsewhere... and avoid the situation altogether.
Like i said, if you get caught at sublime YOU DESERVE IT, they DO NOT *TRY* to catch ppl. They just dont. They catch the obvious and careless. Its a big different world with different rules, the bouncers have their own little gamer to play. They caught my mate Curtis with three pills (very fucking strong ones too) and they took him aside and were obviously planning to 'crush' them (as is the habit at HOME wheh drugs are discovered at the door), but instead they asked him to drop all three of them onthe spot if he wanted to go in.
SO he did.
This was dangerous we were very angry with him. It was his choice and he was FUCT UP bigtime but this is the sort of stuff that HOME STAFF do.. its nothing special it happens everywhere else im sure too...
Law suits wont fo it.. harm Minimisation will. (Remembering that harm minimisation is relevant in all areas not just your health, legal and other wise.)

I thought it was quite well known that Home had camera's in the loos?
I think it was Alex Lloyd who used the footage from the Home loos for one of his video's.
None of the people knew they were being filmed but apparently signed that the footage could be seen after being approached.

yeah, I thought it was too.. but are you talking about actual cameras IN the loos or just the urinal and general loo area...?

well the footage i saw was two way mirror footage, and some above cubicle footage
i'm sorry, but any of the new superclubs will have cameras in the toilets for Loss Prevention, Security, Dealing, and vandalism reasons.
Im sorry but your personal liberties count for shit usually in these situations...........

I wasn't being careless, believe me I've been involved for long enough to not be a moron. There's only one way they could have known what was going down and they even mentioned it to me - camera in bathroom. Fair enough if they want to have cameras in there but they should at least tell you - I don't really mind if they want to have a peek at my "man-bits" but some warning would be nice dammit! I went into the very same cubicle afterwards to urinate and had a good hard look for cameras... maybe in the air vent? Maybe they jut took a DAMNED good guess at exactly what I'd done so they wouldn't look so guilty shaking down someone who they'd observed nothing from.
As stated before, it didn't overly bother me - except for the fact that I lost some money.

OK just had a little chat with a civil liberties lawyer whom is an old friend. (BTW this is vic only he's less familar with other states) He said that if they busted you on this evidence the cops have no powers due to evidence obtained through illegal means (Therefore no conviction) but probably a nasty warning and a file. You in turn could sue for invasion of privacy. This might be why we hear very little about such situations in Victoria. I've asked him to research the NSW laws and get back to me.

Thanks Airwalk, but as I said they were pretty cool about it (sure they don't really want the cops in there). I WAS breaking their drug policy etc... I just thought it might be of interest to othe BL'ers

Guys (and gals),
you have to remember you are in a the lowest possible position. You have been caught, on camera no less, ingesting drugs. You have, in your possession, more drugs. The drugs you have are obviously more than what one person would need. In short, you are fucked.
Be thankful that the dealers didn't swipe your gear and blatantly sell it to others in the club. Not that that has ever happened... ;D.
Civil liberties don't mean shit when you are caught doing a "serious" crime. How many people that you know who have been caught with drugs had all the correct procedures adhered to? You play a dirty game, and the police/bouncers/club owners will play a dirty game too.
If it had happened to me, after i shat my pants, i would have kissed the bouncers. I know people who have been far less lucky, with extremely minute amounts of gear.
