The sun rose between moutain peaks
A different shade of beauty each time,
I've marvelled at the distance covered
And the distance left behind.
The hills were old with wisdom
The air was sparse and thin
The souls that died before me
And the spirits unborn within
And yet with every dew drop
And dreams that had come alive,
Of passion and of history,
Of a quest to simply survive
I've looked for flowers amongst the bones
And purfume in the cave of sorrow,
Hoping the answers I found today
Would carve a path for tomorrow,
And every time I climbed the mountain,
And saw the sun so low,
I knew it wasn't here that mattered,
But the climbs upon the snow.
And now with thorns and stones around me
And all the numbered miles,
The time I know I'm happiest
Is when I see your smiles.
A different shade of beauty each time,
