Speed purity question...

What does pure speed in its base form look like?
The stuff I have got my hands on is a grainy tan/yellow colour... just wondering how pure this is?

Is it slightly wet looking, opaque crystals clumped together that smell like dead-ants/ammonia? Thats my (limited) experience with base!
