My friends and I were hanging out three weeks ago and we snorted a lot of his crushed-up Adderall and some speed that a friend got from Amsterdam. We were also drinking and smoking heavily. I've never done amphetamines before so I had zero tolerance. After the night I went back to my place and snorted more speed just because it felt great. I have no idea how much speed and Adderall I did but it was quite a lot - somewhere around a gram if I had to guess maybe a little more. I jerked off for like 5 hours and jacked up my heart rate.

I did not sleep at all that night. The next day I threw up multiple times and was constantly overheating. My vision was blurry and I felt sick. I went to sleep that night and overall was awake for 36 hours.

Now, three weeks later my brain still feels off. I don't feel completely mentally disabled but everything is just strange. My vision is also still very wonky - when I go outside it looks like some things are farther away than they should be. I went to the doctor a few days after the overdose and he took my blood pressure and heart rate and said that I was fine. I have an appointment with an ophthalmologist next week.

Does anyone have any insight as to what is going on with my brain? I feel like a permanently fucked something up. I've been taking vitamins and eating healthy but nothing is working. Any advice is appreciated.

You are probably fine.

Do you have an anxiety disorder? The speed could have unlocked something dormant such as that, which is making you hyperfocused on these issues.

It's pretty normal to feel "off" for awhile after doing amphetamines. Your brain is trying to get back into the balance (or imbalance) it was in before you did the drug. Some times people can feel down & off for a week or more.

I don't know what they put in their "speed" over in Amsterdam, but I assume it's just normal amphetamine? A whole gram of amphetamine is a pretty big dose, especially for some one with no tolerance. 5-10mg of amphetamine salts (adderall) is enough to get some one with no tolerance going. So a whole gram would be a pretty huge overdose. You are lucky you didn't die. Hopefully some of that amsterdam "speed" was just filler.

I've done methamphetamine off and on for 20 years & a lot of the symptoms you are describing are normal. I get the same thing. I feel very sore, down, no energy, overheating, dehydrated, etc..etc.. for days & days after doing methamphetamine. Your brain just got done releasing a massive load of neurotransmitters & it takes time for these the replenish. You need to eat, drink lots of fluids & rest. It will go away if you stay away from "speed" long enough.
As some one who's done meth for as long as I have, I'm absolutely sure you're going to be fine. I would recommend not using anymore & if you do, don't use a whole gram in one sitting. And remember that you are going to feel like shit & feel weird for a few days, possibly longer afterwards. Maybe you'll be lucky and this will put you off from using "speed" anymore in the future. Stimulant addiction can be pretty harsh on the body compared to a lot of drugs.

But I promise it eventually gets better the longer you stay away from it.
I've had my heart & brain looked at & they were both fine. And if I can do meth (which is worse than amphetamine) for 20 years & be fine, I'm absolutely sure you'll be fine after one adderall experience. Try not to focus on it & go about living the way you were living, just don't use again or you can reset all the progress you've done.
Hope you feel better soon.
