ok...i was lookin at the table for the narcotic dosage converter on www.globalrph.com/narcoticonv.htm and found that 0.1mg of fentanyl is equal to 0.02mg of sufentanil...how come i've never heard of this drug before??? plus i thought oxycodone is supposedly stronger than hydrocodone...according to the chart it says 5mg of hydrocodone is equal to 20 mg of oxycodone...someone please straighten this out...

There are a number of super-potent narcotics out there, some of which are 4500 to 6000 times more potent than morphine--that is, more active as opioids on a per unit basis than LSD per unit is as a hallucinogen, in doses of a few micrograms or less. Scanning an advanced text on narcotic pharmacology should bring some of these substances to light.

Yeah there's some pretty potent synthetic fentanyl analogs out there. I think we should crop dust america with a nice DMSO+sufentanil mix.

As far as that Hydro/Oxy thing, you'll have to note that the Narcotic Dosage Converter is set up somewhat backwards...
Just look at it, and in your mind switch it around. Oxy is more potent to Hydro, make the appropriate # adjustments where necessary.
5 Oxy - 20 Hydro, etc.

The cis isomer of 3-methyl fentanyl is active at 50 micrograms, and lethal around 300.

Hard to believe that nobody mentioned etorphine hydrochloride (Immobilon). It is 1000X as potent as morphine so it would be active at around 5mcg or so. It is only used in veteranary practice as a large animal tranquilizer. Too potent for humans I guess.

Well, think about it logisticly, do you really want to go to the pain of measuring out 5 mcg? where a few micrograms off could kill the person? Logistics probably indicate that its best to use something they can measure safely :-)
