wearing clothes that are either plain or about 3 years old because i've lost all my nice clothes to now distant friends / roommates and i've been broke.

I have about a $440 bonus coming up and I'd like to get as much as I can for the money, especially with winter approaching. Know of any good sites, deals, stores, etc. for clothes?

Please don't post thrift store as some people tell me when I ask this. It doesn't give the same feeling as nice new clothes:p

say what country/state your at, then people can give advice on what stores

onlinewise, asos.com has some pretty nice stuff, expensive ish though

Asos.com has good stuff in clearance, plus free shipping.

Another good site is en.vancl.com. It's a Chinese based retailer with dirt cheap prices and pretty decent quality. They have a great selection and international free shipping, which is always good. I highly recommend you check it out. :)

Is there a Burlington Coat factory near you? Don't laugh ;) the ones around here are huge and have tons of designer and decent labels at outlet pricing- like Ed Hardy, Blac Label, other designer stuff- ive come out of there with bags of good stuff for a couple hundred. Ross is the same way- like a stores they are hit or miss, depends on how good the manager is at moving a lot of inventory through.

OP, if you're in the US, try JC Penney's. I was shocked at the nice stuff they have for women (and by that, I don't mean over-the-top-girly as that is so not my thing--they had professional looking tops and bottoms that didn't scream "woman"), ...so they've gotta have halfway decent stuff for men. :P Give 'em a try. They're relatively inexpensive too. I caught a sale (and they always have coupons in those fliers in the newspapers) and came away with two long-sleeve button down tops, three short-sleeve button down tops, and a blazer for around $130 if I remember correctly.

Burlington is good and so is A.J. Wright. I know the one by my house went out of business recently but I'm not sure if every A.J. Wright did.

What state do you live in?

actually i think there is a burlington about 40 minutes away.

I live in PA. thanks for the suggestion guys. I did stop by Ross and TJ Maxx. Sure it may be last seasons stuff but that doesn't bother me, getting some nice calvin klein shirts for about $20 and levi's jeans for like 17.99? yeah that was pretty nice

I have always found that thrift stores have alot of great options for guys in the way of tops and such of your looking for button down tops. There is a certain classic "guy" style that never seems to get old, and I think any guy looks great in a button down shirt, even a short sleeve casual one.

And besides some of the other stores listed I would look for a Ross. I looove Ross. Its one of those stores that isn't well organized, and you have to spend some time looking through the rows of clothing, but they carry current name brands and very very low cost. The down side it that you should try everything on before you buy it, because alot of the stock they get is are name brand items with small defects. Many times the something extremely minor. But I have noticed shirt I have bought from them with slightly mis-aligned stitching.

The Salvation Army near my house always has tons of cool stuff. They have 50% off sales on most weekends too so I go there on Saturday morning and walk away with 7 or 8 brand name t-shirts for like 12 bucks. I really only buy shirts there though. It is much better to go to Thrift stores in more affluent areas because rich people give away cool shit and shop at thrift stores less.

Other than that I shop at places like Marshalls, Ross and Nordstroms Rack. All brand name stuff that gets heavily marked down. Marshalls is especially good for shoes where I live but you might have to go in a few times over a while to find something you like because their selection is limited. I have walked away with 100$ shoes that were on clearance for 20$.

Check out Target. I get a lot of my sports stuff and boxers from there. They also have some great deals on soft, good looking polo shirts ($10). I plan on buying some more when I am back in the US because I have liked the ones I got so much. I go to Dillard's during their clearances for nicer clothes like button up shirts or sweaters. Shoe shopping is done primarily online, though I tend to spontaneously buy Converses in store when I see them reduced to $20. I only buy pants in Germany nowadays because the affordable american cut styles for guys look like shit.

BURLINGTON! hell yea.. in HS I stayed looking decent for super cheap. As far as underwear and socks.. I keep that shit cheap.. and always gotta grab a pack of hanes white tee's as undershirts! (get em anywhere)

For shoes... if your like me and only get 1 pair a year but wear the fuck out of them. Get a decent damn pair. Don't spend 20 bucks.. the shit will fall apart. I spend between 55-80 bucks and my shoes last a full year and still look halfway decent. (I pass them down to my dad, he uses them as work shoes)

This certainly isn't the 'phat pants and a binkie' BL of 2001.

Living in Canada, I'm not going to be able to give you much in the way of retailer advice, but after spending some good hours in various different stores, I can give you my particular style.

Hat: Kangol Flex Fit.

Sweater: Eddie Bauer zip up

Pants: Nautica Relaxed

Shoes: Beige or black Lugz boots

Jewellery: Optional, but I go with a silver chain

I call it the 'retired raver' look, as it's not really far out, but it's also not stuffy or pretentious. To me, having one or two really nice outfits at any given time, beats having a big wardrobe. If I take something home, wear it once or twice and it sits in my closet, then I consider that a massive waste. Spending $400 on an outfit is perfectly justified IMO if you wear it 2-3x a week. I do laundry twice a week so that I can wear the few outfits I really, really like.

Target is awesome. I love to buy clothes from there. (I'm a girl btw) But most of the clothes I wear are solid colors and classic styles. I know they have a lot of decent style for men there too in the way of hoodies, button down shirts and jeans, etc.

For affordability and style a lot of Forever21's have guy's clothes now. I think they have a lot of cool stuff there.

Other than that I agree with everything that's been said above. TJMaxx is another favorite, too.

between large stores with their own brands (e.g. merona at target), discount stores with name brands (e.g. ross, marshalls, tjmaxx) and used stuff at thrift stores, you can put together great outfits for next to nothing. you have to spend some time digging through the crap for some great stuff, but it's there...

Indeed. I have a few staples in my wardrobe. My biker boots, a couple hoodies, my charcoal jeans, and one of my many leather jackets. Usually what changes is which ever Tshirt I happen to be wearing. But sometimes I'll fancy myself up, depending on how I feel. As far as deals go, in Canada I've found some pretty cool stuff at The Bay actually.

TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Ross'....I buy most of my clothes and shoes from there.
I buy my husband shirts there and he is always stylish.
