So my bowl broke.. (Resin inquiry?)

So unfortunately.. my bowl shattered leaving me having to revert back to using my one-hitter. I was about to throw out the pieces when I realized, the entire innards of it are covered in thick, sticky black goop, i.e. resin. I was just wondering if the black stuff inside the body of the bowl (not the actual bowl where you put the bud in) is also resin? If so, how the hell does it cover that far? It's been building up for a whiiiile so I'm guessing I'd have a good dimesbag worth of resin here, hopefully.
 
From my experience, the stuff in the body
of the bowl is also resin. I've smoked it
many times over and got stoned to the bone.
As far as how it actually gets in there that
far, I dunno. Maybe its the accumulation of
the smoke that goes through the bowl when
you hit it.
 
Alright, so I've completely cleaned it out and I have exactly this much:

And I only smoked a tiny ball of it now.. and am feeling preetty good. My bowl shattering is not bad I see. It equates to getting the extra goodies inside :D

Also, what else can be caught in resin? I haven't only smoked bud out of there but..

- Salvia
- Yopo
- Amanita Muscaria
- Datura

Do they produce their own resin/leave some of their chemicals behind on it and make any diff. to the resin composition?
 
Yes. It is resin and possibly bud that got through the hole in the bowl (if you didn't use a screen). It's definitely worth smoking, but it's a little different high. The taste sucks, but sometimes you do what you gotta do!
 
that looks more like charred plant material than resin to me.

Also you said you bowl broke - assuming it's glass, that would mean small and perhaps impossible to see bits of glass got into your resin, or whatever you may have. I would take that into consideration before smoking it, along with the fact that resin contains a LOT of nasties already.

that's what smoking it'll do for you. yeah, you'll probably get a headrush and intense buzz, but is it really worth it?

As for the bits of glass, it didn't entirely shatter. The body of the bowl did not, so I still had to use a thin wire to get out all of the resin. I loaded my pipe up with 2 small resin balls and smoked them and did indeed get an intense stoning effect for a while, though I don't necessarily hope to have to resort to this again lol.

Tastes like shit too :/
 
The pipe tar, which is what the resin really is, is tar from the smoke that slowly builds up on everything the smoke touches. Usually little bits of plant material fall through the hole of the bowl and get stuck to the sides of the pipe also. Anything that you smoke out of a pipe will leave pipe tar, I don't think the tar from anything but weed or maybe opium is worth smoking.
 
Fuck, i threw away like a packed ball the size of a golfball of that away, thinkin it was pure tar. Couldn't you do a QWISO tek on it?

God bless resin, whenever I run out of bud it's good to know you can magically hit your empty bowl and get some good hits to hold you over till you find more green.

it would not yeild much of anything to be quiet honest. I would venture to guess the tar does not have much THC, but rather more CBD/Ns than anything. You could give it a shot, but I bet it [end product] would be pretty gross.

he smokes out of the glass bowl all of the time, if the tiny pieces were gonna melt and get into his lungs, it would've done it already. as long as he uses a screen (really, when smoking resin, I use a bong as it makes the smoke not as harsh, and it will catch anything such as ash, or in this case, small pieces of glass that migh be in it) he shouldn't have any problems with the glass.
 
I don't think smoking resin could be much worse for you than smoking weed.

i smoke resin when I don't have any weed. I only smoke my pinch hitter through my bong though, so my pinch hitter is really all that gets resinated, so its not that much. I pretty much just collect the stuff I push through it with a coat hanger during my bag, and let the resin in the bowl part resinate all the way up (makes it easier to knock out the ash, and it forms a nice cone shape inside so the weed burns good, and it starts taking less and less weed to pack it tight. then when the weed is gone, I've got a small pocket knife I'll scrape that dry resin out of the bowl part, and then push all the wet nasty sticky resin out from inside the pinch hitter and mix it all together with whatever little bit of weed pieces I could scrape off my tray and stuff. get pretty stoned for a night, and then I'm completely out because you can't get much resin with only a pinch hitter and a half ounce.
