is this even legal?
I'm living in Oklahoma.
This is in a high school situation.

Well.. i went to school. usual day.
was doing my work in my first class.
Then principal knocked on the door and brought the school's security guard.
They pulled me out of class and told me to take my bag to search me.
they didn't even ask to search me. it was more of give me your bag.
They questioned me about knowing some guy lets just say he's "SWIM"

The thing is.. SWIM is my 4th class.
& theres no logical reasoning in why they would have a right to search me.
(this might be racial profiling due to Virginia Tech, although i was the only asian searched.) SWIM was called and asked if he knew any asians. he said he knew me from 4th class. We're aquaintences. we barely even talk. Somehow knowing him gives them the right to search me?

Racial profiling is the best rationalization in which they could of searched me.

i've eliminated drug dog.
Drug dog couldn't of hit my locker bc SWIM would have no correlation me being searched for drugs.
No one in my fourth class was searched.
No other asians were searched.

Can I do something about this?

It's up to the OP if he wants to answer that, though it might not be necessary.

It could be that someone identified SWIM's Asian friend as someone who might be in possession of contraband. If that were the case, it would not be racial profiling but rather race for identification purposes.

There is a lower expectation of privacy at public schools, giving you fewer rights as far as search and seizure is concerned. However, this does not mean the right to search is absolute. If the school was acting on reliable information, then there may have been the required level of suspicion needed to search. If this a serious matter, of course, you should consult an attorney.

sorry didn't specify.
SWIM is not asian.
i was the asian one.

They just found some ibuprofen in my bag.
it wasn't what they were looking for though.

u talking to me? you are SWIM's Asian friend. someone may have used your race for ID purposes. just like saying Bob's tall friend with glasses or Sally's short friend with freckles.

The standard for searches of school students is "reasonable suspicion". That's less than probable cause, but more than just a hunch, a guess, or pure intuition.
