Snorting oxycodone and pneumonia

Well I'm laid up in ICU in my local hospital, and have been since Saturday. Turns out I have pneumonia, which would have killed me if I had waited just 1 more day to go to the ER. I was sick for a WEEK with this thinking it was the flu and/or bronchitis from smoking cigarettes, until I woke up Saturday morning and couldn't breathe and said enough was enough. Turns out my blood oxygen count was dangerously low, and if I would have waited longer I would given myself brain damage and become a vegetable more than likely.

Now they're saying my lungs aren't functioning properly and oxygen won't stay in my blood unless I'm on tubes breathing in pure oxygen.

I'm not sure what caused all this, I'm sure my smoking has a big part, but I'm also sure my 2+ years of snorting blues played a role too. And coincidentally, I went on a coke binge just 1 1/2 days before I started noticing flu-like symptoms, it's a very real possibility I inhaled too much of that in my lungs due to my fucked up nasal passages and that started causing an infection.

So there's your notice of caution, and wish me luck.

Hopefully I'll be talking to you guys in the future.

It's funny bc I wasn't going to read this. The same thing happened to my son who is 3 and has asthma and has spent the last year in and out of the hospital. (due to a poor immune system but got shots to boost it). He had to stay longer than expected bc his lungs weren't 'functioning properly'. They figured out it was because they just kept looking at the pneumonia and not his asthma as well. He was having an asthma attack as well and they kept looking over it.

I'm not saying this is what is happening to you bc it very well could be some build up of whatever you have been snorting. I'm sure I have build too! Using drugs does lower your immune system making it harder to fight colds, etc off. But in ct a lot of pneumonia is going around. A lot of it!

I hope you feel better soon!!! Keep me posted on what is wrong besides the pneumonia.

Thanks bro.

Yea I know how it is with kids, I got a 2 1/2 year old boy myself.

I'm out of ICU now. Just got transferred to a regular room and I'm off leads and O2 now and free roaming, so that's good. Still pumping me with antibiotics and steroids, however. I'm hoping to be heading home tomorrow. I don't have insurance and this bill is gonna suck enough.

So far they've said nothing other than the low oxygen in my blood, weak lungs and pneumonia. And the best guess is that it got so bad for me because I waited too long to come to the ER. Like I said, I noticed flu like symptoms on LAST Monday and didn't hit the ER until this past Saturday evening.

Not a single doctor or nurse mentioned the coke to me or even ASKED if I snorted anything. I had multiple X-rays and a CT scan done of my lungs, and you'd thing if they saw a build-up of substance that isn't supposed to be there and wasn't made by my body that they would of mentioned it to me.

Only good news about me being here is I get 10mg Percocet every 6 hours for a pinched nerve in my back, and since I'm Oxy dependent, it's preventing me from getting sick. So I'm glad about that..

^Glad to hear you're alright.

I'm going to edit the title of your thread for easier searching. PM me if you have any questions.

Edit:

This is a good post, but its more suited for The Dark Side.

Hey bro,

I've had pneumonia before. it sucks ass huh!?

When your lungs fill up with liquid and you are spewin your ass up for days on end...

It probably has alot to do with your smoking and lifestyle, and little to do with the oxycodones...although i bet you could use a few oxycodones now huh :P ?

You will be fine tho bro, Pneumonia is easily treated in todays modern age of antibiotics and medical magic... it only kills the elderly, the very young, and people with highly defective immune systems. Although it is nasty stuff....

Good luck in your recovery mate
