So i am a 130 pound male, 14 years of age. I am in easy access of many amphetamines and opiates, either prescribed to myself or house members. Recently I have started using these recreationally- by either crushing them, or opening the capsules, then crushing the small time-release pellets between two spoons, then further powderizing them with a giftcard. Using a 1/4 inch drinking straw, not much longer than my powder lines, i have been plugging one nostril, and snorting the 3ish inch lines through the other nostril. After i snort i notice that i become slightly congested, and i end up coughing/forming a lugie, of which i can taste the powder in. I swallow this- in the best attempt to retain the powder in it. So what am i doing wrong? Is this normal? What should i do to get the most from snorting? Sorry if this is in another thread, i couldent find it anywhere. thanks all :D

My pet llama would like to chime in:

"Please do not self-incriminate! I am new here as well, but it is very much stressed, for your own legal safety. I believe insufflating even one's own prescriptions is frowned upon by the law.

Now, I would advise to snort more slowly and with less force. If, and this is unlikely based on the inferred state of your nostrils, your nasal passages are clear and easy to breathe through, try putting the straw up a nostril less deeply than you usually do, and merely breathe through that nostril to insufflate the powder. Smaller lines may help, and swallowing those loogies is good, at least that portion of the dose will be absorbed by the digestive tract rather than in a tissue.

Speaking of tissues, how about parachuting?

Good luck,

I appriciate the advice, my thought to solve it would be to be quicker, and more forceful. My nasal passages are clear before, and after i cough the loogies. I am unfimiliar with how snorting actually works, maybe if i knew the science i could better understand. What is parachuting, sorry for the unfimiliarity with these words, i am new and unknowing.

No worries.

Parachuting is a term applied to the method of oral ingestion of a powder or crystal. The user will place the powder in a piece of napkin, toilet paper, rolling paper, paper towel, etc. and swallow the substance. This is common with pills, as the paper dissolves in the stomach and the powder has a much faster onset of action than swallowing the pill whole. My llama would strongly recommend this; as snorting doesn't seem to be working out the best.

As far as the science goes, the majority of the drug is absorbed through the soft tissue of the mucous membrane in the sinus cavity very quickly, hence the "rush". Any non-absorbed powder or crystals will travel down the back of the throat, a bitter and sensational experience commonly called the "drip". In your case, the drip is accompanied by a great deal of mucous, which you ingest, giving the drip portion of the drug to your gastrointestinal tract to absorb and deal with.

Hope this helps,
Irony's Llama

But, then wouldent a large portion of the powder or crystals not be absorbed as efficiently (as in the smallest portion of time, causing the rush) if you are parachuting? Based on the definition you gave with the science of snorting, it seems like it is more efficient. Is this correct? Thanks :)

Yes, in theory, snorting will produce more of a rush, assuming the user is using a common amphetamine. I'm assuming the user is, based on his reference to "prescriptions" and the post being under the heading "amphetamines". However, my llama has never EVER had a drip bad enough to cause the hawking of loogies. Even the time when he did 2 huuuge lines of 5 mg adderall tablets.. for a total of 35mg. 7 blue circles of septum-destroying pleasure.

But I digress, if you aren't happy with snorting or don't feel like you are getting the most out of the dosage, try parachuting. Or parachute and do a small "jumpstart" line. Not too much different, and saves your nose. Septum damage is virtually irreversible.

If i were to specify the dosages snorted, i would be flamed with people saying i am going to die. To me, 35mg of adderall- seems just about right.
But thank you for the advice, and the scientific explanation. :) appriciate it.

No pets allowed on bluelight with the possible exception of guide dogs. Everyone on bluelight accepts that a certain level of self-incrimination is needed in order to practise effective harm reduction. Fair enough if you announce you're sitting on 1000 doses of prescription opiates/amphets, but that is not the case here.

No pets??? Rats. I mean wild sewer rats, of course.

So.. would a rogue, drug-addled camel from a faraway land whom I do NOT feed and who breaks into my house to use my computer and provide useful insight regarding substance abuse be out of the question?

So, hypothetically, I am a blind man. I have a guide dog, who logs on my computer and asks questions about snorting prescriptions. Now what if my guide dog is blind? Can my guide dog's guide llama be on BlueLight?

I read the whole greenlighter guide. I did learn guidelines i should know, but involvement of pets/animals is not incorporated into any rules/guidelines.

That's because pets/animals = SWIM

SWIM is strongly discouraged since

SWIM = ME

Someone who is me

If anything it's liberating to be able to say 'I did something' without having to sacrifice readability.

Anyway let's try and keep discussion on the topic of good snorting techniques from now on.

Doesn't snorting pills hurt your eyes? Since they are connected?

With all of the binders and fillers, you could get deviated septum.

Most of the stuff you snort is not effective until it drips and get into your bloodstream from the stomach.

Just parachute them, it won't take long, will save your nose, and will break the time release.

Much luck buddy, you are kind of young, maybe try and slow down? <3
