hey all so the other day i was smoking, had a panic attack felt like i was going to die because i couldn't breath good and breathing was shallow . been smoking for 6-7 years almost everyday and it's only happened 2-4 times but it really scares me when it happenes, just seeing if some of you out there can relate? i do smoke blunts some what often. So does this ever happen to YOU? and what do you do to get through it? cut back or smoke through it whats your story????%)

Xanax or klonopin, if they can be prescribed to you.

Otherwise a couple shots of vodka can work quite well.

This started happening to me like every other time I smoked. Even when I didn't panic, I would still get a racing heart (like 150 bmp resting pulse) and feel very uncomfortable. I eventually quit smoking.

yes i have been feeling better and took 2 hits off a joint i rolled and put it out just to take it easy and see what happenes. But i think this is my wake up call to slow down on my drinking and smoking alot of pot. as you get older you need to treat your body right, it's not like it use to be when you were young all fun and games. so just a few beers for me and 1 joint for each week and thats it, not to mention the money i will be saving

is it a knife in the heart type of feeling that gets worse when u breath deeper or just a general anxiety attack?

no it's the anxiety attack, the knife one doesn't scare me as much because i know that one goes away. but the panic attack i just had was enough to make me change my life style alittle it's been two weeks and i really like the cut backs i have made i still smoke 1gram for a week 7days also feel alot better all around. In my opinion it's kind of stupid to smoke all day long or at least multipil times a days. it can only lead to not good things in the future

but to each there own

When I had them I was on edge for a month or two. I eventaully found out they were panic attacks, and for some strange reason after they had stopped I kept on 'testing' (energy drinks, coffe) myself to see if I would get them again... They have now totaly stopped for me (and I have been smoking alot of weed), I think it was more due to my situation at the time.

What do you mean by the knife in the heart feeling? I can't imagine that is very nice when you are high!

think about and change your dosage. you shouldn't smoke so much.

I was smoking pretty heavily for about 3 months, would chop up a mix as soon as I got home from work rip cones until I fell asleep a few hours later and basically from when I got up till when I either went out or fell asleep on weekends. Towards the end I started getting anxiety/panic attacks, my heart would race, I couldn't breathe properly, I'd start to panic and it would feel like someone was standing on my chest. The only way I could get rid of it was to stop smoking completely. I smoke every now and then now if a mate offers me a pipe and still get them every time even if I've been drinking. So I've just decided it was time to throw away the bong and go back to only smoking very occasionally.

Though the only time I haven't noticed it is when I've just had a few lines of speed.

you were hyperventilating. you must have had some good herb. next time if you find yourself breathing to your chest, RELAX. breathe to your stomach. hold you hand over your stomach and feel it as you properly ventilate yourself. or breathe into a paper bag to control your oxygen levels. you'll feel better in minutes
