I feel my eyes roll upward to meet your intent gaze as I arise from soft slumber.
You are not drowsy as you have been studying me for hours.
I am not timid or nervous as your eyes reveal their sincerity.
For at this moment, you are mine and I am truly yours.
You have appointed yourself the guardian of this lost soul,
Guarding me as I sleep from the demons that go bump in the night of my mind.
Yet as gentle and tender as you are I know that you would fiercely protect me.
And I can't control my urge to softly touch the face of love.
Tonight, as I long to be in your gentle presence,

Sleeping in the peace of self and mutual love.
