Bupe Sleeping problems during suboxone use

So I'm on day 5 off of opioids. I think I've stabilized and found a good point with my sub dosage, although I'm tapering down rather quickly since I appear to be over the ceiling effect.

Anyway, my opioid use was due to severe back pain. About 2 hours before bed I'd take 20mg of valium and then I was also taking either 700mg of Soma or 20mg of baclofen at night for pain relief/sleep. I'd alternate (found they worked most effectively if I didn't take them two nights in a row). I also took 3mg of melatonin and some valerian root.

I'm still doing the same now that I'm on the subs. I used to crash PRETTY hard, falling asleep in bed with my phone in my hand, head down...wife walking in telling me to put my phone/magazine away and go to sleep etc... That's not happening now, but I am getting very sleepy/drowsy...certainly enough that I can close my eyes and be asleep in less than 3 minutes.

So two questions:

1. I'd like to taper down all of the night time pills. I'm thinking of dropping 1 of the 4 for a few days, then 2 etc..., something like that. But sleepless nights and/or not being able to fall asleep are not something I'm really excited about.

2. I find myself frequently waking up sometime between 4-7 (I like to wake up at 8). If it's between 4-5 I'll take 1/2 melatonin and fall back asleep but wake up pretty tired. Outside of that, once I'm up I can't seem to fall back to sleep. Is this commong when switching to subs (even though I'm takings SO MUCH meds at night)? If so will it go away?

Any help is, as always, appreciated.

yeah i have issues where i seem to fall asleep easy, but wake up in the middle of the night... usually craving sweets. once im finally out hard, i have a very hard time waking up and can sometimes sleep 12+ hours if i dont watch it.

so yeah subs effect your sleep, can go either way.

and im very familiar with valerian and melatonin. i used to drink those "lean" drinks that have that stuff in it. i dont use them right now. i have klonopin that i use for sleep/anxiety/muscle relaxation.

i have severe lower back issues and sciatica... so i feel ya.

1. the melatonin and valerian will be easy to quit taking.... drop those first. for at least a few days. then try maybe stopping the Soma. (that will be a bit harder, but not SO hard.) if u have a hard time stopping/tapering the soma then try taking a little valerian and/or melatonin to help, and it would do much better since u quit using it already for a few days.... see what i mean??

2. yes random weird insomnia is common when starting/maintaining/stopping subs/bupe its really subjective to each individual. some folks cant sleep cuz of too much sub, some cant sleep cuz they need more. so there is really no easy answer here... i find that heavily indica strains of marijuana help, and could greatly help you in this situation. just a suggestion, since marijuana isnt as addictive/harmful as say benzo's like xanax and valium.

That makes sense. I have plenty of them to help me get through this, so i took the first step of going from 5mg time released melatonin to straight 3 last night...and i kicked the valerian root. I also cut one of the valiums out. Try that for a few days then cut one of the others out.

The addict in me is a problem.....while I was 100% sick of the opioids and couldn't wait to get off of them, I still enjoy the easy, relaxing feeling i get when the valium and somas kick in. I look forward to that from about 6PM on.
