Anyways, I woke up at 4:30 AM the other day...... for unknown reasons. I had only gotten 4 hours of sleep that night anyways, the last hour or so of it which was really more lying in bed trying to get back to sleep. When I awoke, I took an extra dose of adderall (I had skipped a day a while back but more than I'm technically supposed to take). I was quite productive during the day, despite the lack of sleep the night before. Then, in the evening, I just felt tired but didn't really feel like going to sleep so I drank vodka and energy drinks (probably a couple cans of them and probably like 7 shots or so, finishing them like 10 ish). I kept drinking them and then stayed up a full 24 hours after having only gotten 4 hours of sleep the night before. While I didn't really hallucinate or anything, it seems that sleep deprivation does some weird stuff to your brain. I never really experienced this before, and it was a bit strange. I had tried to see what this whole sleep deprivation thing was about a couple of times but never made it long enough to have any effects and even wondered if the whole staying and hallucinating thing was made up. What made me want to stay up long enough to see if anything would happen was that I read on the internet that shamans used to do this as part of their rituals, so I figured I'd give it a try as I've been quite fascinated by shamanic practices since I first began taking mushrooms and other psychedelics around five years ago.
Around midnight or so, everything felt kind of fuzzy in a way that's hard to explain but it was minor and almost seemed borderline placebo. Then, everything went blurry all of a sudden and my hands started shaking for some reason by time I got to 4 AM (e.g. around the 24 hour mark). I had these weird body sensations, like more sensitive to touch by a long shot. And I went in the shower and just felt strange. My reflection was all blurry and everything started to get blurry and I felt quite dizzy and like I was in kind of a trance. At first, I kind of thought it was kind of cool. I wasn't tired in the conventional sense of the term though, in fact I felt quite awake. There were a lot of afterimages and stuff too, more than usual. I also felt like I couldn't walk right and started to slur my words a little even though the vodka had completely worn off at that point, as I stopped drinking around 9 and this was like 4 AM. While I didn't really "hallucinate" per say other than just blurry/foggy/fucked up vision, I have no doubt that if one were to stay up long enough they probably would. Though, it didn't seem like the kind of thing that would be pleasant. This wasn't a particularly pleasant feeling, just strange. There were other times when I had very little sleep but this was the first time I went 24+ hours without sleeping at all and it was rather weird. Not an experience I'd wish to repeat. I also had this rather odd and loopy idea about possibly having experienced telepathy that was just kind of harmless yet strange and not the sort of idea I'd usually entertain. Overall though, my mind and body just felt blurry and strange.
