I have 2 small children, one 2 and a half and 1 18 months. she is a single mum. she was really struggling to get everything done around the house and be a good mother to the boys - she had no energy and often fell asleep whenever they did leaving chores undone and a very messy house. desperate she tried caffiene pills which did nothing. She then did some research and saw that ritalin can give you endless energy specialy alongside caffiene. terrified her boys would be taken as she wasn't coping she got some ritalin. she now takes it every day and it helps alot but she doesn't know what to do as she is addicted now. She has an addictve personality anyway and is on subutex due to previous opiate misuse. she snorts the rit(never in front of the kids of course) she feels terrible doing this but finds its the only way she can cope......any advice.....please.

Try not to be so hard on yourself,as long as yr kids and fed, clothed and feel loved that's the main thing.
Your house doesn't have to be kept spotless. Can you talk to yr doctor about the drug use? Are you eating properly as if you aren't that would affect yr energy levels. I know its not the same but would a can or two of RedBull help with giving you some extra energy.
Try to speak to someone like friends or family as they may be able to help you out once they know how you are feeling.
I hope things improve for you. Take care.

I drink some shit called Redline Xtreme when I need an energy boost and can't get my hands on preferable stimulants. It works quite well, although drinking too much left me feeling over stimulated with a racing heart.

My mom was addicted to meth, she cited similar reasons to me as I got older. Wanting to have the energy to be a good mother.

You know what they say, good intentions pave the road to hell.

You should stop snorting the pills, and start taking them orally. Especially if you have past abuse problems. You'll get a much longer lasting, smoother stimulation that will probably be much less "tweaky." You may even find it's easier to reign in your use dosing in this manner.

Methylphenidate burns like a motherfucker anyway.

She shouldn't be to hard on herself, its an addiction. I mean I've seen all to many times parents choosing the drugs over their children. And that kind of rubs me the wrong way, nothing would ever come before my kids. But sadly it is an addiction and your not going to get better over night. I think she is putting entirely to much stress on herself and maybe she needs to take 15 minutes and sit down and take some deep breathes. And remember you can only beat addiction
if you want too, no one else can want it for you! My best wishes to her!

Sorry to hear that.

But no need for SWIM or talking in 3rd person. Not acceptable, actually. We all know it's you.

That is 100% correct, don't beat yourself up. Instead work on changing some things so you can balance it all. Try to stop snorting the pills for starters, taking them orally will do you just as much good and reduce a lot of the negative side effects. Clearing your nose constantly being one of them.

It will probably make you feel much less like a "druggie" since you're not smashing up lines and doing rails in your bathroom secretly. You'll just be swallowing a pill, mommys little helper, nothing wrong with that.

Couldn't have said it any better, your totally right. Don't beat yourself up over this, if you over think it too much your going to make it seems a lot worse then it already is. Stay positive!

Have you tried Adipex instead? It gives me tons of energy and it's safer than Ritalin. Did your doctor prescribed you Ritalin or did you order it online?

you may want to go into rehab or if you feel like you don't need that extra push you could just quit using and go to AA/NA meetings get a sponsor and work the steps

Don't replace the pills with other stuff. I would suggest NA and a good therapist to talk to once a week. A balanced life is the best thing for your kids. You don't have to be superwoman, just be happy and show them love.

Try taking the pills orally for a week, report back then and let us know if you've noticed even a slight change in your mental outlook.

I guarantee it will do you nothing but good.

Don't worry about fixing your life in one fell swoop, it doesn't happen overnight.

Baby steps.
