So the new SimCity can only be played online apparently, and I guess the servers are always slow. Anyone have the game and can throw light on this? Not really into spending $60 on a game that 1 blows and 2 is buggy or slow.

two guys at work play it, they tell me the problems of the release have already been smoothed out.

I have no idea why they need to tether Sims to online only. It is a great game to fire up on a laptop during a commute. Who has ever played multiplayer Sim city? Just another blatant money grab but the game does look great.

I wont buy it but if I was going to play it I would have just torrented it TBH. So for people that really want to play it the online-only function is a good way to make sure they buy it. A buddy of mine tried to torrent it for hours and then ended up going to buy it because of how awesome it looked.

Sadly I think this kind of thing is the future of big-release PC gaming.

On that note, I have heard nothing but good things about it and if you like Sim City type games its probably worth the money.

Yeah, you can get it through torrent, but there is no crack. I guess it's uncrackable, but anyhow I'll just buy it once all the bugs and everything are smoothed out.

its kinda broken, but its pretty much crack. I mean they admitted to releasing a poor product and let us choose a free game. I don't think its broken or slow in the way that you mean. There's some weird graphics glitch or tearing that happens with buildings from time to time. I don't think they nailed down how sims function, or they don't function properly - like if you watch videos they'll go to work and then come back and go to the first house available. They wont go back to their supposed houses.
I'm pissed that you can basically play solo with a region yourself but managing all the regions is tough because you have to load them. Thats a bit slow.

And there's no leaderboards and I don't think achievements are persistent. If you go to a new server you have to start all over again.

Yes thankfully the CEO stepped down, too bad it wasn't sooner, they had such a great game in SimCity, with so many loyal players. This release could have been epic.

I returned it. Don't even bother buying it - most of the features don't work..

There's no connection between RCI - Industry isn't required to create goods for Commercial and Commercial isn't required to create happiness for Residents. Residents don't even really need jobs.
Regional play basically doesn't work at all - it's all turned off so you're not really Co-Opping at all like the game was sold to be.
Many buildings straight up don't work. Ex. Recycling Center.

And worst of all -
The Sims aren't actually Agents like they were said to be. They don't have an address or a job or a family or habits. They move from the nearest empty residence to the nearest empty job to the nearest empty store. One day they live at one house and have one education/happiness/income and the next day it's all different depending on where the closest job is and closest house is on the way home.

Talk about a stupid game.
