Hey,
So I've read before that your stomach can shrink/stretch a lot but I wanted to ask for second opinions - I used to be able to eat a lot (had an eating disorder and would eat way more than I should without feeling full) but I realised today that I can't even eat half of what I used to without feeling ridiculously full and uncomfortable. The only thing that has changed is that I've started going to the gym every day and I've just naturally been eating much less, no more bingeing, much more healthy portions. And then today I wanted to treat myself to a pizza and couldn't eat more than half.
Could my stomach have shrunk in such a short space of time? It's only over the last month or two that I've started naturally eating less. It's probably also worth mentioning that I've lost some weight in that space of time, in case that changes anything.
Also, does that now mean that for instance, if I had eaten that whole pizza at lunch (which is less than I used to without putting on weight) it would be too many calories? Or would it be a 'normal' amount and I've just been ingesting less? If that makes sense.

Cheers :)

Yep, the stomach can both shrink and stretch quite quickly. In terms of stretching, one meal larger than your typical volume will stretch your stomach such that it will take more food to make you feel full at your next meal. I'm not sure if the stomach shrinks quite as quickly, but 3 meals smaller than usual will result in a significantly shrunken stomach, in my personal experience.

How full your stomach feels has relatively little to do with how many calories you need. So yes, your stomach definitely shrunk and that's why you couldn't eat more pizza. If you want to continue to lose weight, it's good you didn't eat more. Shrinking your stomach is a good aid when it comes to weight loss - anything that enables you to feel satisfied while consuming fewer calories is.

Sounds like you're accomplishing what you hoped to. Good for you. :) <3
