I've seen people drunk/nodding/flailing during meetings. Part of me thinks that they clearly need to be there, the other part thinks GTFO!!

I've never been to a meeting before, but uh, yeah, I'd go to a meeting high for sure. I'd wave my junkie flag and hang around afterward to smoke a cigarette; it would give me time to speak with all of the other junkies who haven't yet really gotten clean, and then we can just pile into my car and go score somewhere. I bet that I would meet some blazing new connects...

I just try to make it a rule not to fuck with others' sobriety. Although no one I know wants to get sober so there's that.

I started attending na while high cuz i couldnt stop on my own (did this for 3 months til i got to inpatient). Shot dope in their bathroom and nodded out for a good 10 minutes. Hooked up with girls who were still using (gave them "rides home"). Nodded out in my share of meetings but my homegroup understood my situation and welcomed me everyday, despite the situation.

The two meetings I've been to, both times I thought I was at the wrong place because everyone else was smoking cigarettes outside together and wandered in late at their leisure. After one meeting I walked out and went to go get high right after, because being high is fun.

Depending on where you go, some groups will literally ostracize you and never let you come back.
Some meetings are serious and dont fuck around. These people want to stay clean and a lot of groups will not tolerate this shit.
But then you can have GIANT MEETINGS (eg NYC), so big that literally there is no way to keep tabs on everyone. There you could probably get away with it. But the tight knit close groups? They will not be happy with you doing this.
Should be a fucking place of safety and comfort. Should NOT have to worry about people trying to sell you drugs at NA, but it happens. In some places, it happens quite a bit more often than other places.
Anyway to answer the question I have gone to NA high, AND GOTTEN HIGH AT NA (well right after, but still, in the bathroom of the meeting as people are walking out counts IMO). This was before I was serious about kicking and before i went to detox. Have never done it since that one time.
Also as missmegandelaney says: EVERYONE KNOWS. Every fucking one in that room knows when someone is high. You cant go to somewhere like that high and not expect everyone to pick up on it in less than 1 second...they all know, take my word for it. As they say: you cant bullshit a bullshitter.
