Should I ease off smoking?

I'm fairly young. 16 on the 30th to be honest and studying for my School Certificate. I'm in year 10 and I probably will go through to year 12 as a lot of people say I have a lot of potential and will go far in life.

I smoke maybe a gram a fortnight and I don't really notice any serious side effects other then when I am actually grilled.

I live in a relatively good area of Sydney, Australia.

I started a catholic school at the start of this year, under the will of my parents. A lot of the people at this school had never seen weed before I was there and they probably won't after we depart in year 12.

A lot of my mates won't smoke any weed and strongly encourage me to not smoke either. They tell me I'm going to fuck my life and be some stereotypical long-haired stoner loser :X . I listened for a bit and quit for about a month then came to realise I shouldn't do something just because of somebody elses opinion on it. :\

I have exams in about a month and probably should start studying through the 2 week holidays that will come in about fortnight. I plan on using a bit of Ritalin to help me concentrate for studying and possibly during the test.

I'd just like a few opinions on all of this. Do you think I should stop smoking budd? Is Ritalin a bad idea for studying and exams?

Thanks in advance.

I'd strongly advise against using Ritalin, I'm sure you don't need it.

You don't seem to smoke too often, it seems a safe controlled habit.

I feel bad that you don't have any friends that can share your interest. It might be more enjoyable and safer to have the experience with friends.

Remember to take care.

Hey man, as someone else said further up, Ritalin probably isn't a good idea. While studying maybe, but I still wouldn't recommend it for high school. As for the smoking, I'm not too much older than you, and my memory turns to shit after weed (most of the time I don't really notice). It certainly does effect younger people more. Anyway, people here will tell you it's completely harmless, and it is a relatively benign drug, but no recreational drug is entirely 'good' for you either. You're not smoking that much, so you should be fine, but if you can feel any side-effects it's probably time to ease up a bit.

Anyway, just my opinion, take care mate

For extra concentration and memory enhancement..try ginko biloba...its actually good for you..rather than just a stimulant.

It enhances blood flow to the brain and is a natural supplement. I have started using it for studying for uni exams..its working pretty well atm..

Id stick clear of ritalin myself.

Fom the sounds of it your an occasional toker - You say a gram over a fortnight? how many sessions do you get out of it? do you smoke a little bit each night or smoke a full gram once every fortnight or so?

If your asking yourself if you need to cut down (not because of what other people think, but because of how you feel about the matte) then you probably need to cut down. But by the sounds of it your not smoking very often / much at all and it won't be doing any damage really. It's when you start smoking daily that it gets on top of you with the lazyness etc (depends a lot on the person as well, some smoke everyday all day and accomplish so much.)

& also, ritalin as a study aid is a bad idea, speed is terrible stuff.

ha, you said fortnight.

Doesn't sound like you smoke often. Smoke when you are comfortable doing so, that's really the best advice we can give ya! Everyone is different so YMMV

Usually I'll have a few cones every few days, have a sneaky joint. :)

Dude, I go to work on weekdays and come home and smoke a few bowls over the afternoon until I go to bed, wake up and smoke a bowl, go to work and do it again... I am also pretty much high all weekend too.
But since it's become such an everyday thing it doesn't affect me in any negative ways.. I do what I need to do and enjoy doing it all and make it more enjoyable with weed. I say go ahead and smoke, just make sure you are doing everything else you need to first.

Priorities man.

Typical Americans not knowing what a fortnight is lol.

haha! agreed my friend.

i do agree though, priorities first. (Which i need to take to more into account)

don't blow all my money on it (usually steal my dads) ;)

don't spend other peoples money on it, 100% definately.

cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerzzz.

:):):)

Its probably not what u want to hear, but if u enjoy weed i would definatly say u got ur whole life ahead of u and to save it for holidays/when u get into uni. plenty of time to toke up.

You brain is young, its still maturing. Ive said this before, but u gotta learn how to chill without weed. u gotta learn without it bing apart of u, if u want any chance of being able to control it in the future...

Im sorry, but i dont encourage teens to smoke, just the same i wouldnt encourage them to drink. if ur smart, go educate urself in regards to studys about weed. all the science says that teens are the most at-risk group of people. No matter your background or family history, its not a good idead to feed a developing brain THC.
