hi guys, i'm new to bluelight, and although i know this question has been asked before, when i searched i couldn't find the exact answers i've been looking for.

anyways, i'm planning on quitting dope this coming weekend and don't have access to a suboxone or methadone. i can, however, get my hands on 100 mg seroquel and 2 mg xanax bars. what is the best way to to use these drugs to reduce kick symptoms?

in past attempts, it has really been the restless leg syndrome that trumps all else, which leads to sleepless nights. xanax aids a little with the anxiety but no matter how much i take cannot rid me of the rls. i've heard seroquel can further induce the rls, but it really only hits me at night, and if the seroquel knocks me out completely, i might not have to worry about it at all. can anyone speak from experience who has used seroquel to help with wds? any input is greatly appreciated.

thank you. be safe

Serequel is sometimes prescribed for extreme cases of RLS..

It is sometimes used off-label, often as an augmentation agent, to treat conditions such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, restless legs syndrome, autism, alcoholism, depression,[8] Tourette syndrome,[9] and has been used by physicians as a sedative for those with sleep disorders or anxiety disorders.

Conclusions: Quetiapine use during opioid cessation was found to help abate symptoms of opioid withdrawal in our patient population and was generally well tolerated.

Good luck!

Becareful with dosing 100mg of seroquel. I ate 20mg of it trying to help my 5yr, 240-300mg oxy w/d's and that shit knocked my ass in the dirt! Dont know how I woke up from it. Maybe it was just me.... but seroquel, I will never eat again.

^ A good thing when withdrawing from opiates, no?

I used them when coming off phenibut for the anxiety / insomnia.. worked well..

Diphenhydramine might help some, too.

Really? I had read that the opposite was true, so thank you for that!
As for benadryl, I used to take it on like airplanes and such to knock me out, and as a potentiator when smoking tar. I also heard it can increase the RLS, but maybe I'm wrong on that one too.
Thanks for the quick responses

I'll admit, I slept like a baby, but when I awoke, I was super groggy and my day went twice as worse. I guess my point really is, if you're going to try it, don't start out w/ 100mgs. I dont think I'd ever wake up from that.

Ah yeah i forgot we were talking about RLS ;) I was more meaning diphenhydramine can help with sleep / anxiety. (Single doses of about 50mg)..

use the xanax for anxiety and the seroquil for sleep. If you still have RLS, run a mile or so and you will knock yourself right out. Be warned though, seroquil takes 2-3 hours to kick in for me

Since opiate wd's are the pits, but don't last too long, I'd use the Xanax fairly liberally. I will say that Seroquel should work for insomnia, but I'd take it with a decent dose of Xanax so that you don't wake up TOO uncomfortable. Xanax isn't ideal because of its short duration of effects compared to other benzos, so even if you dose Xanax with the Seroquel, you may still wake up uncomfortable, of course you only have to wait until the Xanax kicks in once you wake up if you dose Xanax first thing in the morning or whenever you wake. I'd take only 25 mg of the Seroquel, maybe 50 mg if you don't have any experience with anti-psychotics. I'd only take it at night. I'd think there would be enough to put you to sleep so you wouldn't have to worry about it making the RLS worse at night. There is a chance it will make it better, stay the same, or make it worse. I don't really know. But as a knock-out drug, it will do its job.

if anything puts you to sleep coming off of methadone, I am highly surprised. I took 1000mg of trazadone and still didn't blink an eye. Methadone withdraw is a fuck..

off topic, relating to Seroquel and RLS:

NSFW:
I'm very surprised to read that Seroquel (quetiapine) is used off label to treat RLS. I think it's worth noting that wikipedia seems to be the only source for that claim that I could find. In fact, all the results I got on Google using various combinations of the words "Seroquel" or "quetiapine" along with "RLS" or "restless leg" or "akathisia" were reports of quetiapine causing RLS, not treating it.

Also, consider the mechanism of action of quetiapine versus drugs used to treat RLS. Quetiapine is a dopamine antagonist whereas RLS medications (Requip, Mirapex etc.) are dopamine agonists. These are opposite ways of affecting dopamine receptors in the brain.

While diphenhydramine can cause or exacerbate RLS for some people, it's actually used to treat the extrapyramidal symptoms of anti-psychotic drugs (extrapyramidal symptoms can manifest as RLS, among other things). So, if quetiapine gives you RLS/akathisia, taking it with diphenhydramine might actually be helpful.

I've used seroquel extensively and I think that the consensus around here is that it's risky taking antihistamines/antipsychotics/fatigue-inducing drugs during WD. This is because, although they can put you to sleep and help you in that way, they can also just make you fuck tired and seedy-feeling without putting you to sleep. You need to make these decisions yourself on the basis of how bad your withdrawal is.

Seroquel has never taken more than 30mins to work for me. But I would reiterate that the worst thing that could happen would be to take seroquel and still not be able to sleep!

Seems like it's pretty on-topic to me ;)

In the hospital when I had to detox off of methadone CT, and Klonopin as well, all they would give me was Seroquel, Neurontin, Clonidine, and Trazodone. I still didn't sleep for 5 days. They FINALLY let me sign myself AMA and I went straight to hood and copped a bundle and got right. Now I have been back on'done for over a year now, and i had been prescribed seroquel for sleep during this time, which worked surprisingly well. It did make me lethargic all day, especially with methadone.

I wish you the best of luck, man. I'd rather stick my dick in a deep fryer before going through that shit again... *sigh*
