Im on a subotex maintainance program and asked my doc if she could/would prescribe me any medications.

Its just a little over a month since i joined, and i still do heroin from time to time(when i skip my bupe dose) but usually just take my subs and feel like maybe some meds would help with anxiety, insomnia and that general feeling that something is "missing".

I talked to her,and the only cocktail shes willing to prescribe is Lyrica and Seroquel, which are the only meds she pretty much prescribes to everybody in the program.

I read that Seroquel is an antipsychotic and can help you sleep as well, while Lyrica is like Gabapentin, treats nerve pain and several ppl claim that they can get high off of it too,but except the possible sedative effects of Seroquel,i dont see why such a combo would help me.
Im also addicted to (currently) a very small dose of benzos(flunitrazepam),so maybe this combo is supposed to help me kick that as well(im planning to get off of it anyday now)?

I asked her to prescribe Xanax which has small to none recreational use for me but is great for providing a good night sleep, although she said its out of the question since its an addictive benzo and would not be suitable for what were trying to do here(kick big time heroin addiction and benzo addiction as well).

So any of you guys have experience with those 2 drugs?Would they benefit me while on bupe and could they be of use while withdrawing from another very potent and addictive benzo?

*I hope prefix isnt misleading,i didnt know what else to put(those 2 meds arent benzos right?)...

The sleep effect from high dose seroquel non extended release is unmatched by anything that exists imo. No matter what, you will be asleep in an hour.

Gabapentin is an RLS and anti-seizure medication. So look at it that way.

Yes, I totally agree with you. My problem is being asleep the entire following day.
I works beautifully but has this minor side effect.

I remember, I had an instant tab of seroquel, simply because I had nothing to do that night (parties, relaxing with some folks, etc..) and I got a call from a friend who was getting deployed the next day and I'm like, yea, I'll stop over (after I popped it)....and I was struggling to stay up for an hour straight and then it just passed.... hardest struggle ever.

@Erikmen- Word. You feel zombified for hours.

@Op,
i also wanted to add that gabapentin is often perscribed because its cheaper than lyrica, nonhabit forming, and doesnt potentiate alcohol. Its primarily perscribed in combination because it smooths out the side-effects from an antipsychotic like restlesness or muscle jerks.

Seroquel is a life saver during withdrawals. it will make you feel zombified and out of it, perhaps a bit dysphoric at times, but will knock you out if you let it do its thing. you have to try very hard to stay awake on the shit.

Nice to hear that it helps so much with sleep, its one of my main concerns.

Question is,could benzo tolerance interfier and make the drug less potent?

Years ago i could take like 1mg of Xanax and sleep even in the most insomniac night, but then tolerance went up and needed at least 3-4 2mg pills combined w Stilnox to have a decent night of sleep.
Of course, tolerance is way lower now,but could my long term relationship with strong benzos make Seroquel less effective? :/
