Couldn't find anything in the search engine. Anyway was wondering exactly (In medical terms) this is. ie had MAOI or SSRI anti-depressant and then dropped a pill? Not urgent just curious.

Umm... quick couple of points from things that I've read:
SSRI then MDMA: Supposedly limited to zero effect will be felt from MDMA.
MAOI then MDMA: Massively increased risk of "seratonin syndrome"
SSRI + 5-HTP: As above.

TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR!
And if you can't talk to your doctor, go out and find one you CAN talk to. That might even mean getting a referral to a specialist such a psychiatrist or a psychologist.

errmmm....scary thing is ask a doctor if they think 5htp is an effective postload from mdma, or wether there are not enuff active receptors to allow it to cross the blood-brain barrier, therefore rendering it useless, in which case is a placebo affect as good as any?? and they'll flat out stare at you and wonder what the fuck your on (and probably be able to guess
) i know too many med students, and i also know quite a few doctors (out of uni for 1-4 years mostly) and i find it scary that they know flat fuck all about this shit.
if you really wanna know, ask a pharmacist or someone with a biomed sci. degree....

Exactly, you probably really need to talk to a specialist - the trainspotters of the medical world. Your GP (general practicioner) most likely has a fair understanding of this, but for a really detailed answer you need to go to someone who specialises in the specific area.

I was under the impression that nuerotransmitters binding with the recepters is what gave the "effects" of the drug, and that the reuptake transporters were simply a method of "controlling" the amount of serotonin floating about in the synapse at any one time. And this was also how ssri's worked.. By blocking the reuptake (or blocking control of levels) of serotonin there is infact more serotonin to bind with the receptors on the dendradite (sp?)
Hence SSRI's been more prone to bond with reuptake transporters than serotonin makes MORE serotonin be availiable to bind with the receptors on the dedradite, hence increasing the "effects" of the drug ?

Man I actually asked that question. I guess we that means even the most researched among us didn't know the answers at some point.
But just to let people know the information I recieved at the time was very valuable for the person I then gave the information to.

I just went to GNC to pick up some L-Tyrosene (unrelated I know) - The same person has served me the past few times I have been, I have told her about my 5-HTP supplament (I didn't say why of course) - she warned that the body can become addicted to it and warned about Serotonin Syndrome as well. I told her that I had read up about it and also mentioned some points from this thread (not mentioning bluelight)
Just thought I would let you all know that there are non-bluelighters out there who seem to know what they are talking about too.... even if they have never had 5-htp!
