selling pure heroin: a crazy concept?

Instead of people replacing a percentage of the weight with a random powder, why not just sell the user less. Seeing as how all heroin is cut and seeing as how everyone knows all heroin is cut...well, that kind of defeats the purpose of cutting it, doesn't it? Cutting it serves a visual purpose. It makes it look like you're getting a fat sack. OK, but since everyone knows its cut, no one goes by looks anymore.

Another purpose cutting serves is it makes a very concentrated substance easier to dose. Or does it? Is the bullshit uniformly mixed with the product? What if you prepare one dose and you find that it's relatively weak and then you prepare another dose later and it turns out that there was a hell of a lot more heroin on one side of the packet...

Even if dealers achieved uniform dilution, you would still need to test out every batch because everything would be diluted to a different degree. If all heroin was pure, you'd never need to test it.

Lastly, having users inject any substance other than heroin is a violation and an insult. The whole concept of putting random powders into an INJECTABLE product is laughable.

And I don't care if it would be really hard to dose pure heroin.

1. *You* try eyeballing milligrams when you can barely afford a needle.
2. It's a lot more work to extract pure morphine than to dump a bunch of acetic anhydride into some opium and dry the result.
3. The drug market is run by hoodlums sometimes, like it or not. There will always be people who add brown sugar to their smack to make an extra buck regardless of if it's moral or not.

Only one way to see clean, pure, drugs in doses known to the mg. It's called legalization, and it isn't happening anytime soon. As long as drugs are a crime the supply will be controlled by criminals.

No.4 heroin.

As I understand it, there's three types of heroin.

Chemically modified opium. The morphine in the opium is turned into diacetylmorphine aka heroin; the heroin is still contained within the dark resin. Additionally, the codeine in the opium gets turned into acetylcodeine.Dubbed black tar heroin.

The second type is no. 3, which is heroin base. Morphine is first isolated from opium, then turned into diacetylmorphine.

The third type is no. 4. A salt of heroin, diacetylmorphine hydrochloride aka heroin hydrochloride. I believe this makes it dissolve in water instantly.

no. 3 and no. 4 are both pure heroin. 100% pure.

Heroin is white; I believe the reason for the color variation in the heroin we see is leftover pigment from opium due to imperfect processing.

No. 4 is filtered through activated charcoal in an ether solution and let evaporate to remove nearly all impurities. No tinge, all sparkly white.

I thought "no. 3" and "no. 4" were just slangs for heroin base and heroin hydrochloride, however you're implying that those terms actually just refer to degrees of processing using a specific method. That sounds more accurate. No. 3 is heroin base and no. 4 is heroin hydrochloride, however, the product is not necessarily pure.

So what are 1 and 2 heroin then?

I don't think there is a "no. 1" and a "no. 2" heroin. I think "no. 3" and "no. 4" stand for the third and the fourth step in the process used in underground production. In the third step, heroin base is yielded; turning heroin base into heroin hydrochloride is an optional fourth step.

I don't use heroin but I've always thought this when dealing with ecstasy. I would happily pay double if I had to to get pure MDMA, rather than normal price for 50% MDMA and 50% random shit.

Right.

It's really pure, but it's so stepped on, you don't know what you are getting.
