Hey yall. Have been off site a few days and I need some advice. You all have been so on point with what you have to tell me that I know I will get some great info from you guys.
The last few weeks I have been trying to overcome my dependence on my pain meds. (perc 10) I have been on this med for over 2 years and gradually my dosage level has increased in an effort to ease pain. I don't believe this issue is about getting high but about finding a reasonable level of comfort.
As my health deteriorates with time my pain increases so the prescribed dosage of 1 pill every six hours is not providing relief beyond 3 to 4 hours. I have been honest with my doc and advised I have been taking more than prescribed and that I would like to find some med that can provide a long term comfort level instead of fast acting.
My doc was not thrilled that I had not followed his dosages as written and I get that, but why do the doctors not realize that as pain increases over time so does the tolerance to the meds? Its hard to stay on the same dose with good results for a long period of time. I thought that I should at least receive some credit for honesty... but nah.. so I have been researching and I see so much on methadone but it seems like a scary step. What are the other alternatives? and no OTC med provides nearly enough relief.
Thanks!!!!
