I used the search option and didn't really find info pertaining to ALL the questions I have.

I went to my local smoke shop recently and was purchasing screens. there were quite a multitude of different ones. I honestly until that moment thought there was just a standard screen for all types of pipes, water pipes, bowls etc. I was just curious as to whats the best type of screen for each individual style of piece.

Glass on Glass

Pipe(Sherlock Holmes style)

Bowl

Bubbler

I got a bunch of stainless steel ones, which im currently using on the pipe but I'm curious if this would be the best material for the others.

Cheers

The only ones I know of are metal screens and the glass stoppers. IMO they are useless in any sort of water pipe because the ash will just fall into the water like its supposed to, except for hash but that's another story.

Those are the glass ones. I don't have any experience with them so I can't say much about them.

Screens in little pipes are nice, it keeps the ash out of your mouth

I JUST got a glass stopper from my friend yesterday. They work in bongs to keep shit from pulling through before it's completely burned. I actually hadn't heard of them until recently either.

On occasion I've used brass screens, for bowls or for really shaky stuff

these work nice in glass pipes that have a bigger hole in the bowel except for the downsides, frequent cleaning - i'm talking pretty much every use because it clogs up so much, they chip and brake easy and are to expensive(imo) to buy all the time.

most hardware stores sell very durable stainless steel screens packets. i find those work best. it seems most headshops sell those flimsily golden brass screens that are crap.

The only glass screen i have used was out of my friends HUGE sherlock. The only time i use any kind of screens are wit metal pieces. If you use metal screens on a glass bowl it can be a bitch to get it to stay in place long enough for it to stick.
