Scratch on brand new roor

Hey everyone. I bought a brand new roor yesterday, a 5mm, 35cm green label straight shot german roor, and everything was great. Today when i went to get it out there was a small 1cm vertical scratch (well im not even sure if it is a scratch, its white though) going down the bong near the base.(its on the chamber of the bong)

i was inspecting the bong the whole night before as were 2 other people and no one saw the scratch the night before. Then when i take it out not even 8 hours later there is srcatch. how does that make sense? Could this be like air bubbles in the glass or something like that? The scratch looks like its inbetween the glass even, so i dont know how something got in there if it did. Im just wondering that if it is scratch or a crack will it get bigger with time or is it just some kind of imperfection with the glass? any input is appreciated.

Chill out bro. Its just a bong.

i doubt anything mysteriously happened over night...you probably just didn't notice the blemish when you first got it. either way...chill it;s not going to spontaneously shatter

dude just made a decent investment.

and he is only asking for opinions.

just chill is such an irritating thing to hear when you're frustrated.

sorry to hear bout your purchase man. did u smoke outta it yet? most headshops wont take anything back but maybe if u havent smoked outta it then just maybe u might convince em.

anyways, is it bad or just barely notciable? plug up the down stem part n see if it is airtight still.

anyways man sorry to hear bout this.

Ida been pissed if i cam home n found my roor scratched. had it for 2+ years now, like i said to the others, its an investment.

even if it is a crack it might not expand if you treat it well

anyways man sorry to hear

Glass is a pretty durable surface...I wouldnt even know how to scratch my roor if I tried. I mean im exagurating its possible but glass is a really hard surface, i bet it was defective before you bought it.

assuming you smoked out of it, you will probably have to live with it, but if you havnt i would 100% go exchange it and get your $'s worth

I cant imagine it could POSSIBLY be cracked

Roor's are pretty well built... I think one of your buds scratched it and you didnt notice cause you were blazed. The glass is decently thick.

^^ green labels are actually fairly thin

but its still high quality borosilicate glass nonetheless

i would guess you bought it scratched, cuz like Stuck said it would be hard for someone to scratch it

I'd contact ROOR directly and see if they're willing to exchange your bong for a new one. They're very proud of the quality of their products and I'm pretty sure they'd seriously consider your request.

There are a number of vaporizer manufacturers who offer lifelong warranties on their products because they're incredibly proud of the workmanship and durability of their products. Judging by their product information, ROOR seems to share the same attitude. I haven't actually gone to their site to research your issue, so I'm just speculating here.

As has been mentioned, it's a major investment. When I ordered my ROOR, I considered it a lifelong investment. I treat it as such as well. At the same time, I haven't the least idea how I'd get a scratch on that ROOR glass outside of using a diamond-tipped cutter on it. That bong is definitely built to last.

Worth a shot at least.

Have any of you seriously even read the op?
He says the scratch is in between the glass so it's obviously a crack.

It sounds like it may be a stress crack but if you can a pic or 2 would really help to asses the severity or weather it is a crack or scratch. If it is a crack and the shop you bought it from for what ever reason will not exchange it contact the manufacturer and see if they will. really a pic will help in telling what it is but it really sounds like a crack.

it sounds like you got a tiny little crack in the glass. its nothing big, but you gotta be careful about putting any stress near that area - i.e. put bong down hard, bump that side, etc. as it will exacerbate the problem.

my camera isnt good enought to show the scratch. its definately not a crack. and ya i dont wanna hear chill, you chill. you go out and pay 460 for a product thats supposed to be 100% and it wasnt. i doubt its anything to worry aqbout, and i think its on the outside of the glass as well, how would there be a scratch on the inside, let alone how does a roor srcatch this glass is so strong epescially at this thickness.

what pissed me off is I inspected the bong thoroughly before purchase as did my friends and no one saw it. i was also worried it was on the inside because res will build in it and fuck it up even more, but it cant be on the inside. do you guys honestly think roor would take it back used though?

pay 460 for a product

i retract my previous statement, you musta got the Lime green label (the thickest)

i was refering to the forrest green label in regards to that previous statement

just trying to avoid confusion

and yea, Id be even more pissed seein as how u bout one of thier best

do what arterexes says, roor should back that shit up. 7 damn mm, shit shouldnt be cracking

do you have you reciept? show roor that u bought it yesterday, but ull need good pics unless your in germany and are going to the actual roor shop, i think

If you already used it then no I highly doubt they will, may not hurt to check though but, if your absolutely certain it's a deep scratch and not a crack then just be careful with it cause $460 is quite the investment.

Motherfuck. I just wrote a more concise post, edited it and it just disappeared. I've forgotten the flow of my original post. Grr. So this post will suck.

What did I originally type? Contact ROOR directly through the internet, describe the situation. Maybe skip the multi-user session and say it was just you giving the piece an initial try or two. Why bring on bad luck? Then see if they'll send you a replacement.

I doubt the head-shop will compensate you b/c that's a low-margin business and they usually can't afford to replace expensive pieces that people may have handled irresponsibly (or pieces that people have used responsibly, but have broken.) Besides, they've probably got dozens of teenagers and older trying to scam them out of money/free pieces, so go directly to the manufacturer

If ROOR is like many other high-end bong/vape manufacturers highly confident in their projects, ie. Illadelph or the Launch Box guys, they offer a lifetime guarantee. ROOR takes pride in the workmanship of the product, their craftsmanship, and the integrity of their product and company. I've come across several vape/bong manufacturers who provide lifetime warranties and are happy to ship replacements provided it's obvious that the piece hasn't been chucked off the roof or run over.

As to the scratch, my 5mm Little Sista could probably be shot into space off the Space Shuttle launch pad and land in the Caribbean unharmed. A friend once knocked mine off the (high) counter onto a concrete floor and the thing doesn't show a trace of the fall. I was lucky. It could have hit the bowl or down piece, but still… that glass is strong. I can't help but suspect that your new bong shipped with a tiny line of glass bubbles.

I invested in a 5mm Little Sista because of the aesthetics and durability. (However, I just looked at their site researching your problem and I've found many new Little Sista models that are even more minimal, therefore more attractive, than my own. Damn. Oh well. Mine's beautiful in many ways. Function/form n all that.) Anyway, their site seems to imply that they support their customers to the point of replacing defective items even if you've smoked only a session or two.

Good luck! I think you stand a fair chance of either getting a free new bong or a large discount coupon. Those guys respect their customers. Get what you can get. Those bongs are very difficult to scratch and the company knows it. ROOR will probably assume that one of their online vendors is selling seconds that should return to the plant. As you know, the damn things are expensive so you should get what you paid for. (Sorry f it has been asked before but: Do you have the receipt?)

^ thats why i ALWAYS copy n paste all my posts before hitting "submit" ;)

& anyone who spends THAT much on a frickin BONG has too much money.
ill stick with my small 1 foot high glass "tasty" bong that cost me £12 and works perfectly.

although my headshop did at one point have an 8 foot high (seriously) muticolored thick glass bong, with a bowl the size of your fist!

im sure that if someone could afford to spend that much on a bong, they could afford to fill the bowl!
