Interestingly enough I thought this was the education forum where users could get support regarding their education.

It nice to know BL users are so helpful and considerate over here. :)

I would think that your school would have a whole list that they could provide you...Just ask your admissions department.

Anyone know any good scholarships/grants that are pretty easy to get and don't require a lot of work?
sounds like you're really putting a lot of thought and effort into your future. you'll go far...

you haven't even specified which country you're in - maybe start there?
There was this super fast easy form that I did.. anyone know anything about that?
how the hell would we know? you did it. ask yourself?

Yeah, you're right. Stupid question. I have no idea about VA education services. I don't have a military number since I was born after my father left the army. I probably don't qualify.

I guess I'm asking since I'm going on all these websites that say they are scholarship sites but are actually trying to recruit me to attend x university. My phone is getting blown up with scholarship opportunities offered only a X university. I live in USA. I'm trying to look up ethnic scholarships since I'm Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Mexican. I have a 3.07 (3.1 is usually the requirement for most). I'm starting graduate school in the fall so am not looking to transfer or go to another university. I'm totally overwhelmed and have no idea how I'm suppose to afford my tuition (government loans are 6.8%-- my fcu offers 5% as the lowest so I'm going to try there).

How did everyone else afford school? :( I also suck at sports.

do the research yourself, but apply for anything and everything. stupid long essay requirements are the best, cause no one else does that shit.

it doesn't have to be good, you just have to be the only one to apply.

but by all means, go out and research what scholarships, bursaries and grants are available, but don't be a lazy cow and expect it to be feed too you.

I feel like all the sites I've been doing, like scholarship points with all these ads and I'm getting so lost!

Can anyone recommend a solid site without any of this nonsense?

^ come on, dude. nobody's going to hand you this stuff on a silver platter. yes, it sucks that you have to fight a little bureaucracy, but take a little responsibility for your own future, roll your sleeves up and do some work.

look at it as a lesson in life - you're going to have to work a little to get what you want. everything's not always going to be easy and require no work on your part...

What are you talking about? Like stop coming in here and attacking me for asking for scholarship advice. I'm not used to applying for scholarships because I worked my ass off and paid my way through school and got my BA. Unfortunately, my masters is waay too expensive and can't afford it by simply working. So don't come in and act like I'm lazy because you obviously have no idea what it's like to work your ass off to pay your way through school so shut up.

Did you guys miss the smiley? :P <--- Sticking tongue out like joking?

But yeah, no, go ahead and bash me because I'm obviously extremely lazy and have a super easy life. Or maybe, I'm just a desperate college student that really needs some help and is wanting suggestions from other college students who have been in the same position as me (obviously not from people whose country pays for their education). There doesn't seem to be a lot of scholarships for masters program in psychology.

LuGu, thanks for the link. Unfortunately, 0 results were found. I guess my state is extremely limited so I'm going to try and find local opportunities.

I believe that residential preference is just that, a preference. You should be able to apply to many scholarships regardless of what state you live in, if you aren't sure you could always email or call them.

Yeah, I figured that and have been shifting through them. Haven't found one for a psy major so will continue looking. I found an interesting scholarship (random googling) that's specifically for students who have lost their parents which I thought was kind of cool. I have a paper due tomorrow and the next so I'll do some more searching later when I have more time.

If you are trying to get a masters then your should be able to find this information yourself. If not, I recommend turning in your degree and going to McDonalds for an exciting career in fast food management.

not liking the negativity ITT. I found looking for scholarships very frustrating, so I feel for you pretty diamonds. I'll try to contribute something positive:

it really helps if you're actively volunteering within the community. scholarship people go nuts over that kinda thing. be the leader of some school club. and be good at writing essays

kinda obvious but walk into the college office that deals with scholarships... those people ARE PAID!!!! to help students out with that kinda thing, they'll have resources for you.
Also, talk to your profs and tell them that your financial situation is tight... and if they know about any scholarships, to send you an e-mail.

not sure what country you live in, gonna assume USA. i'm in canada so probably not the best website advice but from what i could quickly find:

http://www.fastweb.com/
http://scholarship-positions.com/category/usa-scholarships/

***for any canadians reading this: check out studentawards.com ***

Just keep applying and applying and applying, you have to treat it just like job hunting. Good luck!!!

miscbrahh, thank you for the helpful post! It IS extremely frustrating and totally overwhelming. I felt like my financial aid department kept pushing the government loan on me that has 7% interest. I mean, they had me complete this online government loan "class" that took me like an hour so I would be "eligible"? But I don't want to pay 7% interest and become in debt when I graduate. They also said the interest could increase as well. Like, I was just so annoyed and asked about grants or free money. They told me there wasn't a lot out for masters psychology (government money was only reserved for undergraduates). They asked me if I had any family who was in the military and I told them my father was like 30 years ago. They said as long as I had a DD214 form (which I was like, uhh), I could get 20% off. They then signed me up for a "payment plan" and I had to put my credit cards down to be charged $3,945 every month for 4 consecutive months. I walked out of there like, WTF DID I JUST DO! I don't have that kind of money.

Hence, freak out - make thread.

GOOD NEWS: The financial aid department emailed me to meet up and go over "awards" and yesterday so I'm totally confused because when I met with them they said I couldn't get anything and asked for my credit cards. AND I found my father's DD214 form and am going to get 20% off! Yipyeee. I ended up going to the credit union and applied for a $25,000 loan with 4.49% interest (payment plan over 60mos). So advice to any US peeps, credit unions can have cheaper interest rates than the government loans!

It's too late to apply for any scholarships now but I booked marked everything promising to apply for when applications open up for the spring semester.

If you can get a scholarship with a 3.1 GPA then take it. Over here in the UK, most, if not all, scholarship programmes require straight A/A*s.
