San Pedro Cactus during winter

Hello, i am new to this site and I need to ask a question that i can't on other sites because they make me wait 10 or so days....

Anyway, I am just wondering if harvesting San Pedro around this time of year (December 30) would be a bad idea. I have read that they get skinnier during winter and my only concern is there being less mescaline in it and not being worth the effort. My cactus are outside and only recently did I identify them as SP. I would be doing the simple boiling method.

I don't see how a skinnier cactus would mean less mescaline. If anything, it would mean a greater concentration of alkaloids due to less volume, which is probably due to water loss or something like that.

In fact, I have heard (but don't quote me on this) that stressed cacti might produce more mescaline. And I'm sure cold weather stresses cacti out.

So, if anything, this would be a GOOD time to harvest. This is all conjecture though. I don't have any actual experience with growing.

terrible time to cut. cactus go dormant throughout the winter and it probably won't grow anything new. also the moisture in the air increases chances of mold growth 10 fold.
don't do it.
