Salvia is frightening

Hare Krishna!

I smoked salvia for the first time about nine months ago and still I wonder what the hell happened.

A lot of folks seem curious about this drug but I would advise those who are just looking to get high to look elsewhere. Take 'shrooms again or trip some good acid. 'Cause this Salvia stuff is strange.

I do believe that some people are really opened up to mystical truths by smoking this mysterious root. It was, as you all know, used by Indians for religious purposes, as a diviner. If you come to Salvia with respect, if you meditate before using it, and if you are really ready to let go of your ego, beautiful experiences might blow into your mind.

If, like I was, you don't know what you're getting into and your just looking to get high - beware! This is a traumatic experience.

I was only under the water for three minutes at most, according to my friends, but it could have been hours, seconds, years... time didn't exist where I was. My soul vacated my body. It sped around fast and saw things that could not cross into this world. Meanwhile my mind sat in a body, helpless before a barrage of phenomenon. My body twisted, my brain was on a conveyer belt, the room was hacked into pieces. All the while I giggled hysterically and starred deep into space, absolutely unable to move. I couldn't let go of my ego and I paid the price.

After using I was disoriented and for the next few weeks wondered if where I went was ... like hell. Was that my fate? Was I experiencing a glimpse of eternal damnation? Now I like to believe that it was strange just chemicals reacting with my brain. But who knows? And, to add more mystery, everyone who smoked it with me had completely different experiences! What a root this is.

Anyway, to reiterate my point, don't use this drug for kicks! Even though it only lasts for minutes it's still a heavy experience, not to be toyed with.

iso240 moved this over to TR... I'm gonna rearrange your title a bit.

I agree though, Salvia can be scary. Definitely not a "club drug" ;)

You're fine man :), your mind just had a tough experience, salvia showed you his capabilities off fucking up your senses.

You are where you used to be

I have to wonder about the kind of person who considers salvia a "club drug" myself, *smirks* what kind of clubs are YOU heading to?? :p

Was this a 5x extract or what?

my brain was on a conveyer belt,

Hmm, let me guess.. Your head was moving along, like, "click, click, click" and when it was your 'turn' thats when you started to 'come back', or maybe 'snapped back'?

My first heavy salvia trip I remember it as, "I" (not knowing anything more than, that I was simply some consciousness, nothing more) was in a line of other "I"'s or consciousnesses just like myself, infinite to the left, and infinite to the right, and I remember some 'thing' coming along the line, in time intervals. Like bump...bump...bump... and I knew, i was getting closer to this thing, and i knew that something was going to happen then, there was no fear though because really i didnt even know i was human/etc. When it got to me, "bump", back to earth I was, like a baby, staring at the lighter moving it around wondering what it was.

A friend of mine described exactly as you said though, when he was about 6 yrs old at the dentist, and getting 'the gas', he remembers his head being on a conveyer belt moving along, which got my attention reading your report! Nope not salvia, just nitrous hehe, and just like me when it was his 'turn', he was back in the chair at the dentist.

Interesting!

MY EXPERIENCE WAS EXACTLY THAT OF ABOVE. It was like being a rolled up red carpet, though, right before i kinda collapsed, birdmen told me the secrets... we are all a simple atario game. Then i saw something in my hand move, and felt the salvia gravity. I am glad this herb is legal. It shows that plants can be drugs, not that drugs can be plants.

I do remember waiting for my 'turn' to exit the conveyer-belt, and having the sense that the carnival ride would reach a point where I could get off, but focusing on a goal was impossible. It didn't seem fair ... it would be close and then I would have to wait again. And I just kept giggling.

What was the most frightening aspect for me was the lack of will. Other hallucinogens I've done will introduce an alien intelligence into my mind but my rational mind still exists, and I can work with the alien intelligence and guide my trip. Salvia took over ... I couldn't even think to say 'stand,' let alone stand up ... at least while the drug was peeking.

And the timeless quality was very strange too, and disturbing.

A lot of people post that they have had these transcendent experiences, forrest shadows and benevolent spirits. I thought I'd share the hostility that the drug gave me.

That's interesting that similar effects were experienced on nitros. It makes me think that my trip was less about astral projection gone wrong and more simple disassociation. Has this drug been studied scientifically? What goes on in the brain when you smoke it?

^^^^^ Yeah, somewhat. Salvorin A goes to a different receptor than any other hallucinigen. The k-opoid or something like that (I think the journal article is at sagewisdom.org)

My own salvia expirences were very horrifying but I think I really overdosed.

I think bipolair was just giving a 'reality check,' tripping alone can be intense, right? if you take seriously what you alone see without people outside saying: you're ok.

What's up with the birdmen and the atario game, though? That's an even stranger trip than mine.

I'm actually planning to take Salvia again. I'm going to order the liquid extract found on Sage Wisdom's website.

The more I read about Salvia the more I want to get deeper into the experience, and see a world completely beyond rational knowledge.

I have had mystical journeys on Salvia that are so personal to me, I promised myself I would never tell anyone, nor write a trip report about them of any sort. The only other psychedelic that I have had this type of experience with is Peyote. Salvia is by far the most intense and awesome drug I've tried yet. I can't wait to try 5-MeO-DMT and DMT.

Here's a question for you, Piper Methysticum, or anyone who is experienced with Salvia. On first use were you aware of a divine presence? What do you think encouraged the mystical breakthrough? The first time I ever ate mushrooms I knew that a divine and a mystical presence of mind was communing with me. I have read reports of Salvia that make me want to breakthrough, but my first time was so harsh, like a practical joke was being preformed on me. I read somewhere on this site someone say of salvia that it was 'the invisible knife of hell' and I knew Exactly what they were speaking of. And yet I read of others having beautiful, profound encounters while 'in the smoke.' Is it worth fighting on through the insanity?
